New Equipment - Less Features

Just received my new Fios TV+ equipment (router/VMS/STB) and there are two significant downgrades:
- You can no longer "skip forward" a designated amount of seconds on a recorded show, just backwards. Lame.
- While recording a series that is broadcast on different channels, such as sports often are, you can no longer designate to only record the HD channels. It records the HD broadcast and the exact same SD broadcast. Ludicrous.
At least the second one could be solved with a software update if Verizon realized how stupid it was to remove that option from series recordings, but the second one would require all new remotes. Not going to happen.
Disappointed.

Have you tried using the right side of the Navigation ring to fast forward? What about voice commands? Not sure about this as I don't have the Fios+ boxes myself. What about showing only HD programming in the menu, will that stop the DVR form recording SD?

I can fast forward, it just won' t allow me to "skip" forward a designated amount of seconds.
I do show only HD programming in the guide, but that does not affect what is recorded.
Thanks for the reply though,
Sev

Oh well, worth a shot. Maybe they'll fix it in a future update.

I got FiOS TV+ back in December 2024. The idea if very good but there are a few things that can be improved as you mentioned. I've been having a lot of issues in the last 4-6 weeks. Technical issues like VMS is bringing down the router. I don't know if they are installing upgrades during the week but they should notify users when upgrades and possible issues are going to happen. Today I only had a few hours of good connection. Most of the day either the VMS was not readable or the WiFi was down. Please report to the community if you encounter any issues so others know about it. Sometimes I do not know if I am the only one experiencing the problem or equipment/area related.

I haven't experienced any of those issues myself (yet). I did notice the VMS will occasionally have it's normally solid white LED change to slow blinking green. According to this page it means "Software is updating":
https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/tv/equipment/fios-tv-plus-dvr.html
The only way I've been able to clear the blinking green is go to the settings and update the VMS software manually, then after a few minutes, unplug / plug-in the VMS to cycle the power.
The most annoying thing I've noticed so far though has got to be the "Are you still watching?" pop-up. It even happens while watching a recorded show. I could maybe understand it while watching VOD shows (and still hate it), but during a local playback?? That's just stupid.
