STB and standby mode

We recently installed new STB equipment. I have the main Fios 1 box and two mini boxes set to "never" for standby mode. Despite that, the boxes are randomly going to standby mode. In fact, last night, one hour after my husband turned off the tv, it went into standby mode, which messed up my taping of a program (we do not use a Verizon DVR).
The boxes are hard wired via coax cable, so it should not be a Wi-Fi issue, although we did get the newer router at installaiton also.
I ran the troubleshooting, and that created a new problem where it said the voice remote could not be found. I never set up the voice remote, we DO NOT want it. But, in order to exit, the exit button would not work, and I had to tell it to remind me later. What is going on?
Unrelated, but periodically the TV just goes blank while I am watching something. Should I ask for a new box?
Thanks for any help!

I would just go ahead and go through the remote pairing procedure. It should stop it from asking you to do it, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to.

I agree with Clem. Fully program the remote but don't utilize the voice command mode. I'll try voice mode out every once-in-a-while, but it just doesn't seem like a "must use" feature. 😐

Did you try powercycling the entire system starting with the router first? That usually clears up a number of issues. Which boxes do you have? The Fios One or the Fios+?

Hi! As far as I know, I have the Fios One box and 2 mini Fios One boxes.
I have just now power cycled. First I unplugged the router, then I unplugged the STB. Only time will tell if this works.
In the meantime, I have another question. After the power cycle, I had the same occurrence as yesterday when I ran the online tools. Namely, when it came back up, and I pressed menu on the remote, it told me "you have a new remote." Not. It then wanted me to set up the talk to the remote option, which I do not want to use. The problem is that it will not let me exit from that screen! It totally stops allowing me to do anything, unless I do the "remind me later." Is there a way to tell it I do not want the voice remote function? My husband also noted that he used to be able to control the volume with the Fios remote, but after these power cycles, it no longer works. I suspect these things are related. Do you have any advice about that?
Thanks!

Sigh. I tried doing that - multiple times. I held the buttons until the blue light started blinking, waited for it to stop, and it kept telling me it did not recognize the remote! It was like I was in an endless loop without any escape. That is why I finally went to "remind me later," because it was the only way to get out so I could watch TV!
