I keep having to reboot my STB. when this happens, instead of my normal service where I can use the channel guide, use menu options, etc i can still watch tv, but i don't have the guided or other menu options. can only channel up /down, or enter channel number. nothing else works. I've rebooted my router multiple times, the STB too many time to count. sometimes rebooting the STB works and restores normal service, most of the time it doesn't0. do I need to get a new STB? this one is more than 6 years old

Sounds more like a bad splitter or coax connection somewhere between the router and your Fios box. That coax connection provides updates and guide service to the box, if it is intermittent, you'll get the issues you see. Check ALL the coax connections, loosen and re-tighten, and replace the splitters in the system. Make sure any splitters are MoCa 2.0 certified.
