Set top box issue

I just received the new set top boxes and had a technician at my house to install them today. The main box is simultaneously blinking green and red and also a strange sound is coming from the box.  It will stop blinking and then start blinking with a light white and green light and then go right back to the green and red blinking lights. I tried unplugging the device, resetting it and nothing is working. This is very frustrating considering the technician was at my house this afternoon!

This is a diagram of the light codes for the Fios boxes:

Hopefully you can figure out what is wrong, or if it is just trying to update. If not, I'd have them send an installer back out on their dime.

Same here.  I spent 6 hours disconnecting coax cables, power cords, to no avail.  The STB is now making whirring sounds as if its trying to write to a disc.  This is the third STB I’ve gotten from Verizon.  One would think that in this age of technology, they’d develop better and more efficient STB!

That could be a bad HDD or a cooling fan. either way you shouldn't be hearing it unless you put  your ear to the box. Sorry to say sounds like another defective box. Problem is a high percentage of them are actually used or refurbished.
