Stream TV Change Channels

I recently purchased a Stream TV box from Verizon  , and while i am not a fan of the Fios TV+ box (paid for with the service), this Verizon Stream TV does not even allow for channel entry, channel up / down, Guide button returns to main Android TV screen.

Is there something wrong with the software included?  Seems like its missing some mapping for the remote.

thank you-

steve

I'll take a stab at this, even though I don't fully understand the question. The Stream TV device, also called Fios TV+, is Verizon's version of a Roku. It can carry many different services, including Verizon Fios cable, Verizon Fios DVR service, or any number of streaming apps. I'm going to assume you have Verizon Fios Internet installed and working. Did you purchase a service or just the box? If you purchased a Verizon Fios channel package and you are set up properly, the box should have been showing ESPN during the initial setup, and guide should show your available channels. If you didn't subscribe to a channel package, guide is supposed to show free live channels from Pluto TV.

Thank you for the reply.  You are correct that I have a Fios TV package, and what you describe above is what i would expect. However, the "main" android tv area actually does show Pluto TV.  The integration seems to be missing with the fios home tv app (or whatever) which is what i would expect.

Basically, I have the Android VZ "skin", and within that I launch the Verizon TV app, within which i have the live channels, guide, etc.  The effect of this however, is that the Guide button takes me back to the main Android home screen (out of the fios tv app),  channel # buttons do not work, and the channel up / down - no dice, etc.

I did the setup 2x early on, is there something else i have missed to "integrate" the available channels so i dont see the Pluto guide ?

thank you,

Steve

I had a professional install my system and watched as he did it. There are set up videos by Verizon on youtube. Their instructions are often a bit different from what I had done. They say that the Fios TV+ boxes can be installed with and without the VMS4100ATV DVR server. But are non-specific as to the whether the Fios TV+ can run as stand alone cable boxes without the VMS, or if you have to run the Fios TV app on them. When I unplug my VMS, the channel feeds drop, but the guide remains. Hopefully someone that doesn't have the VMS can chime in.

I have a VMS4100ATV, 3 Fios TV+, and a router.

Router connected to the ONT through both coax and ethernet.

VMS connected to the ONT through coax.

Fios TV+ connected wirelessly.

I have the same setup.

A few questions-

1)  For the Fios TV+ boxes, where did you purchase them, and are you paying the $xx  / month?  For my issue, I purchased the box from their website for $69 -

2) When you installed the stb, did you need to also go to the play store and download an application?  Or did your Fios channels work out of the box.

I'm paying by the month. After the router and VMS were connected and powered on, following the on-screen setup was all that was required (no Fios TV app). I'm at a loss as to why it isn't working for you. You can factory reset the box and start over by holding down the power button on the box till the menu displays. But if you have the VMS4100ATV installed and working, I don't know why it didn't work for you.

Thank you for the help.  I am also surprised why it does not just work out of the box.

Working with VZ support now, but its going to be a long process.  First they are shipping me a new remote.  I am pretty sure its the software pre-load on the box though, which I suggested to start with , but they have their process.

I am hoping someone else will also chime in here that purchased the $69.99 StreamTV box and was able to get it setup and working properly with the channel inputs, guide, up/down.!!
