VMS Box never turns off or goes into standby.

New VMS 4100 box just arrived and was installed. It doesn't turn off or go into any kind of standby mode when everything else does.

The light on the front stays bright white and it's loud. Either a fan or hard drive constantly spins. Very annoying.

Shouldn't it eventually power down? I've checked every available menu item/setting and can't find anything to shut it down.

Is it the Fios One VMS 4100 or the newer Fios + VMS4100ATV? Either way it should NOT be loud in any sense. You may have a defective box and most likely should get a replacement.

It's VMS4100ATV-3350. It's not loud like "clicky" or anything, but it definitely has something audible going on 24/7 that is either a hard drive spinning or a fan. But it's ALWAYS going and the status light is always BRIGHT white, whether the TV and STB are on or off.

I subscribe to legacy Fios cable television (Fios One). There is a hard drive inside the VMS that runs 24/7 so when I walk past the television, I can hear the whirring of the drive.

The brightness of the status LED on legacy 4100 Series STBs can be chanhed between three different settings for "On" status. When the box is in "standby" mode, it should dim. ">
