Recently installed TV One Mini and voice remote. Sometimes after powering on the box and TV (using the POWER button on the remote) the Volume and INPUT controls on the remote have no effect. Waiting minutes after powering on to use the controls does not help. I either have to power everything off and on, sometimes several times, or go into settings (without changing anything) to get the controls to work.

Try using the manual pairing method instead of auto. You could also un-pair the remote first, then re-pair it using the manual pairing option.
Main Menu > Settings > Voice Control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Fios TV Voice Remote>Reset Remote Setup
Main Menu > Settings > Voice Control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Fios TV Voice Remote>Manual Setup.

I found the issue. For some reason the STB had changed the setting to send audio to an audio device rather than TV. Which is strange because I have never had a sound bar or other audio device connected.

I'd try re-pairing the remote to the box and your TV. Remove the batteries for the remote for at least 15 minutes, then do the pairing process again.

Thanks, clem21! I tried the suggestion but the results so far are confounding to me.
When I had set up my full-sized TV One box , the remote would not operate the TV functions (eg. power, volume, input selection) until I paired the voice remote by activating voice control. I figured that by removing the batteries from the remote (I left them out for 30+ minutes) that the pairing (as you implied) would be lost. So, I assumed that with the pairing lost, when I replaced the batteries and pressed the power button it would not turn the TV on. And, in fact, it did not so I used the TV's dedicated remote to turn the TV on.
At that point, without doing anything else, the volume and input buttons on the voice remote operated the TV's volume and input selection as desired. I went into SETTINGS anyway and selected to auto program the voice control, but when I did this it said the remote was already paired so I exited without doing anything else. And when I hit the power button on the voice remote it turned off the TV and put the TV One Mini in standby (or whatever that state is called).
So, the net is that even after leaving batteries out of the remote for 30 minutes, the only effect it seemed to have is that it would not turn the TV on. I'll monitor the situation over the coming days and see what happens. If I still have problems I will not only leave the batteries out, but will go through the SETTINGS to pair a "new" remote even if it shows one already paired.

Clem21 - Your suggestion worked mostly for me. My remote is again working for Power and Input. However volume is still not working. Which I find strange since during the manual setup when I clicked OK, the volume did change as expected. But after exiting the wizard, no volume control, just Power and Input. This remote previously worked. Any thoughts?

There was a post on here a week or two ago about changing the procedure for programming the remote. I can't remember exactly but it involved hitting the OK button twice or something like that to get the settings to take full effect. I'll look for it, seem to recall it applying to Samsung TVs. Might have been a You tube video.....

jk, very interesting as my TV is a vintage Samsung, probably 15 years old or so.

After scratching my head, it was definitely a You Tube video. Haven't found it yet, but it dealt with the same problem you are having. Annoying I can't find it now......
