cnn sound cuts out every few minutes

This week in the Boston area with Fios I have had CNN cut the sound out every 5 or 10 mins . This only seems to happen on this station and not sure why . After searching on the forum I noticed this has been mentioned in the past a few years ago on these forums . I am not sure what its going on with this . Have any others had this issue recently?

Just for the sake of checkng, can yo try to set the audio in your TV to STEREO or MONO instead of surround and see if it helps? For those with older Fios boxes you can change it in the Box's audio settings. Main Menu > Settings > Audio & Video > Audio> Audio Format. It may be a surround sound issue.

Is channel 100 the one in question?

I only watch CNN on channel 600. Last time I checked earlier today they were still there .

I'm been watching "CNN Newroom" on channel 600 for a while now. No audio dropouts to report.

Watched last night on my bedroom TV on HD 600 dropouts were happening but even worse . Checked this morning on my main TV and started happening again after a few minutes but not as bad. Sound goes off for a few seconds and then comes back . All other channels are fine . Very strange.

I subscribe to Fios One (legacy cable television). Verizon has provided Arris 4100 series set top boxes (the latest version used for legacy television service).

Is that what Verizon has provided for your televisions?

Some suggestions to try before contacting Verizon Repair:

. Power-cycle all of the set top boxes.

. Power cycle the Verizon ONT (the box that converts Verizon's fiber to copper).

. Check the error log to see if the counters are seeing errors (indicating a possible cabling issue).

. Try watching CNN's SD feed (channel 100) and see if it behaves differently.

I am having the same problem with CNN channel 600 in the Boston area all my recordings of CNN they keep cutting out and it’s not just for a second you miss quite a bit. None of my other recordings are having this problem.

I have a Arris VMS 1100 box . I Just watched CNN on channel 100 for about 20 mins and it seemed fine with no audio dropouts .

I think that if CNN's feed was the source of the problem, both SD & HD channels would be experiencing audio issues.

The next step would be to check the error counters on the STBs to see if they indicate a cabling issue.

Back when we had the old Motorola STBs here, the signal quality on various channels would often deteriorate. I discovered that a coaxial splitter in the basement had an unterminated port. I ended up installing a terminator cap and that resolved the issue.

Soon after, I completely upgraded all of the coaxial cable, connectors & splitters in the house. Service has been perfect.

My suspicion is that the problem has something to do with the 1100 series STBs. If that is indeed the situation, a call to Verizon Repair would be needed to have the agent order replacement 4100 series STBs...which are the latest units for Fios's traditional cable service.

I have a VMS and two remote 4100 series STBs, and they have been rock-solid since they replaced the old Motorola STBs several years ago.

Same happening with my FIOS signal, audio cuts out randomly for a couple of seconds. Making it very difficult to follow any story

Did anybody check with neighbors to see if it is an area wide issue? It could be a bad local feed if your neighbors are having the same issue. If not, you could have a bad coax connection or a bad splitter. Track down and replace all splitters with MoCa 2.0 or higher rated splitters. and make sure all your coax connections are tight.

Same issue here in Maynard MA -- was on with tech support for an hour -- cycled the set top box, cleared the router, ran diagnostics... still have the issue with 600, 100 is fine. I have older set top boxes -- they are sending me new ones -- we'll see if that cures the issue.

Been happening here for about a week as well. Sound drops every few minutes. No other channels seem to be affected. Odd for sure.
