I have been with Verizon for 20 years and currently have Basic HD Fios TV and Gigabit Internet. In the morning while eating breakfast, I enjoy watching Fox News (ch 618) on a desktop computer. The resolution looks like 480p (SD) instead of HD. My computer displays 1080p just fine and other sources like YouTube and many, many others display videos in HD (1080p). I tried to contact Verizon by phone a few times but can never get through. Is LIVE TV on tv.verizon.com supposed to be shown in HD ?

Not 100% sure, but it sounds like somehow the channel you are watching is the SD version instead of the HD version. Do any other HD channels look as bad as this?

I tried channel 506, 510, 512 & 618 (all HD channels) and they all look terrible (480p at best). Before I try calling Verizon again on Monday, can someone please try watching on your PC and let me know if these channels look like they are HD or not?
