While trying to mute my television, I accidentally turned on some kind of voice assistance for the blind. I tells me every volume level as I change them. It also describes all control options. How can I turn this off?

Look here and turn off DVS and Text to Speach:

Looking at my Verizon Fios STB remote control, I don't see a button that would activate a text to speech feature.
There is a feature that allows you to control some STB functions with your voice.
Now...I have legacy Arris 4100-series STBs. It is possible that a text-to-voice function is available on the new STBs...in which case I can't check how it is enabled and disabled. 😐
