Anyone else having problems with their Pixel not consistently chagrining when plugged in? I’m wondering if I have a bad phone or it is a design issue. Twice I have plugged in my Pixel and it did not start charging, of course it was just before I went to bed and my phone died overnight.
Was it plugged in completely?

Yes and I was using the charger that came with it. It seems to be sensitive with the cord being twisted.
