I had a similar issue with my Samsung Galaxy S7 and thought a phone upgrade would fix it. I've since purchased a Pixel 3a and I'm still experiencing the same problem, must be a network related issue.
When connected to wi-fi and I try to send a text message, the message won't send but will say "Sending" for 5-10 minutes before I get a notification that the text was never sent. I attempt to retry sending but the same issue occurs.
My system is up to date, I'm using the standard messaging app. If I turn off my wi-fi while the message is "sending" it goes right through. I'm always connected to Wifi at home and at work so now I may go hours without realizing my text never sent. This seems to be happening with all my contacts.

We always want you to be able to send/receive text messages. Can you receive texts on Wi-Fi? Have you tried restarting your router and device? Please connect to another Wi-Fi network and try this again. EricaG_VZW

We just switched to Verizon on Sunday (yesterday)
At home and at Best Buy no issues connecting and sending text messages
Work on Monday cannot send messages at all when connected to wifi.

Welcome to our Verizon Wireless family and we certainly want to start you off on the right foot! What model is your phone? Have you only tested the messaging capabilities on your work Wi-Fi or on multiple different networks? YaleK_VZW

Relying on an available Wi-Fi to send texts means the service is not working as intended. That said, I'd like to help fix it. In order to resolve this concern, I need some more information. Where are you located (intersection, zip code)? How are the other services (calls, data)? What happens when you try to send a text without Wi-Fi?

I’m using an iPhone 11 Max Pro and have the same issue. If I try to send/receive a text while connected to WiFi it won’t send or receive. If I disconnect it will send and receive with no issues. This is repeatable and I would be happy to send you my location privately.
I’m also using my own home WiFi, if you can let me know which ports to open in my firewall I’d love to help troubleshoot.

We never want you to miss any of your messages. I personally keep in touch with everyone through messaging myself, so I understand the importance of getting this problem fixed right away. However if the issue is only while you are connected to your home Wi-Fi then that is an indication that there is an issue with your Wi-Fi and you would need to reach out to your ISP (internet service provider) to ensure you are getting the speeds needed to support your activities.

Mine does it at work only
My previous phone did the same exact thing and through Google i fixed it. Now that was 2 years ago so I just need to bump into the fix again.
I can tell you it was a setting in the phone that did it and had nothing to do with the wifi

You keep just asking about what app and what phone they have. Just answer the question. They all said text messages work on home wifi and other places but not in a work wifi. It does t matter where they live, what phone they have or what app they use. The one guy said it probably has to do with wifi calling. Just confirm that this is the issue and how to fix it. You guys just best around the bush. No one ever gets a straight answer from you. No wonder why we get frustrated. 🤨

I also can't send SMS or MMS texts on WiFi (Apple Messenger works fine) I can't turn off wifi calling because then I will have no phone service either. (Verizon apparently doesn't seem to think it's important to provide cell service to customers here in the Boston suburbs).
If there are router settings that must be changed to permit this service could you please just let us know what they are? Taking all these conversations offline doesn't help your user community.
Iphone 8
iOS 13.7
Verizon FIOS internet
It doesn't matter if it works on other WiFi networks or not, I need it to work on this one.

Being able to SMS and MMS messages while on your Wi-Fi should be no problem. I'm sorry that you're having trouble. How long has this been an issue for you? Are you able to receive SMS and MMS messages while connected to your Wi-Fi? KevinR_VZW

I’m having the similar issues. If I turn WiFi off, my messages go right through. But with WiFi on, they won’t send.

Hearing that you are not able to communicate via text over Wi-Fi concerns us, NickiH71. We know most people communicate via texts these days, therefore we want to get this matter resolved for you. Can you please state if you have tried to remove your SIM card for 3 minutes for a troubleshooting step? If not, please do and let us know the outcome.

Hi there, Bigshep13. We want your text messages to work everywhere, so we're here to help. What messaging app are you using? Do you experience issues on other Wi-Fi networks?

I have tried all this . I always stay connected to Wi-Fi at home and at work and I have never had an issue until one day I got a notification on my phone wanting me to update my Wi-Fi call preferences. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with it but that's the only thing that happened when I started noticing it well I updated my Wi-Fi preferences to see if it would help it did not so I removed the permissions and took myself off of making Wi-Fi calls it did not fix the issue so I re updated it.
If I restart my phone I may notice my messages working only for a minute after my phone turns back on but then it goes back to not sending or receiving calls or messages. I've checked all settings all preferences all permissions not to mention I've used this for years and haven't had a problem until now. But it is very very aggravating as. I do use my phone as my business number also so when I'm at work I'll go hours without realizing that I accidentally left my Wi-Fi on and not be receiving any calls or messages.... which doesn't have to be explained that that's not a good thing when you're trying to run a small business during these times. Every calling messages important. I really hope y'all can get this solved ASAP. Thanks guys.

I have the same question. I have an Iphone XS. When connected to my work wifi my text messages won't send and I get multiple duplicate messages. No issues at all with iMessages. This has been happening for a year. I have zero problems when not connected to wifi and no problems when on my home network.

Thanks for reaching out to us, Amanda_L_S. It's important to text, so I understand your concern when you can't send text messages. I'm here to help. Are you able to send text messages from other Wi-Fi networks? Do you have trouble with calls? Had there been any recent changes with the WI-Fi at work?

I've been having the exact same issue, now on my unlocked Galaxy Fold. I've spent countless hours speaking with support to no avail. I am able to make and receive calls and texts on home wifi and mobile connections but not my wifi at work, which has been the same for some time

It's worrying to see you're also unable to send text messages when your device is connected to Wi-Fi, and we are here to help. Please tell us, what messaging app are you using? Is your device in Airplane Mode while connecting to Wi-Fi? Is this impacting all numbers that you're trying to reach via text message?
