Hi there,
I just bought a brand new Google Pixel 2 device on ebay which would make for a nice phone for my kids.
Unfortunately, this device does no longer receive sofware updates either from Google or Verizon (see: here, last update was on 12/07/2020).
I therefore want to install a recent version of LineageOS (an aftermarket OS / custom ROM which still receives relevant security updates), see: here .
Unfortunately, the Bootloader of the Google Pixel 2 I bought has been locked down by Verizon and I cannot find a way to unlock the bootloader to install a recent version of Android, which I need, because:
* an outdated version of the operating system without security patches is not feasible
* the device will no longer receive official software updates from the vendor (Google)
* new sofware/apps require newer Android versions, which would only be possible by upgrading with an unlocked bootloader
* I don't want to put an otherwise new and fully-functional device into the trash
* I have paid money for a brand-new device which is basically unusable and -- due to missing security updates -- potentially unsafe to me until the bootloader has been unlocked.
Please provide the steps necessary to unlock the bootloader of my device so I can put this device to good use.
Thanks in advance.
