Phone set up

More of a complaint here but what the heck. I took my brand new phone into the verizon store at Arizona Pavillons for help setting it up correctly. First thing the guy tells me is that it will cost me $30.00. After some discussion I then asked to speak to the manager. The manager was also adamant about  sucking $30.00 out of my bank account.

I guess it didn't matter that my mom had her phone set up for free 1 week prior to my visit. It also doesn't matter that I have been a loyal customer for 10 plus years. Further more it doesn't matter that I am shelling ouy close to $300 a month for 2 phones and a tablet.

Well guess what Verizon? T-Mobile is just itching to get me for a customer and this just might be their lucky day.

There are fees for store employees to set up your device or transfer data from one device to another.  At least the people you spoke with were being honest, because I've read of others who weren't told about the fees and went into sticker shock when they got their next bill.

I didn't use the Pink Logo Place all that long and had a BYOD, but if one company is doing such a thing, wouldn't be surprised if all the large carriers are doing it.  I sometimes lurk at the other guys' websites and forums (Blue Logo Place retired their forums, but Pink Logo Place still has theirs), and from what I've seen elsewhere, things are pretty similar with service plan pricing and line activation fees.
