trying to unlock a Google Pixel 4a in order to install an esim for travel to Europe and am getting the runaround from support people

Trying to unlock Google Pixel  4a that I purchased unlocked an have  had for years that I think a Verizon person inadvertently locked when I brought it in to be activated after I could not activate it.   Spent a very long time on the chat with someone (Ai) who was more interested in selling me support plans than solving my problem .   He, it, finally told me that the Google Pixel 4a did not support esims, when in fact it does.  I asked him, it, if my phone could be unlocked and was given a rash of repeated suggestions about calling another number.  I am very disappointed in this poor level of service and after being a customer for 19 years I am ready to ditch Verizon.   Someone better send me a message very soon or I will.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

If you've had this Pixel phone for several years, it predates the current Verizon device unlocking policy of "use for 60 days on Verizon", but I don't know what the old policy was.  Have heard of issues with phones purchased outside of Verizon mysteriously remaining locked before.  Whether this is a glitch with the system or something else, couldn't say.  Your best bet if you can't get anywhere with CS is to file a complaint with the FCC.  But you will need plenty of proof of purchase indicating you are the rightful owner of the phone before a SIM lock appeal will be successful.  Good luck.
