Activation issues

I just tried to activate a ThunderBolt for my daughter that her grandmother gave her. It was her grandmother's. I followed the instructions on line and we used back up assistant for her contacts. It said it was activated, but nothing.. Now both phones are inactive. (My daughter was keeping her same phone number) How can I resolve this?

Did you get a new SIM card for the Thunderbolt that is also associated with your daughter's number?  Also did you turn off the old phone and remove the battery if possible before you started the activation process online?

Hi Skeeter44,

We want your daughter to get full access to the Thunderbolt for her own use. Ann154 posed a good questions, did your daughter get a new SIM Card set to her own number? If so, I recommend having both devices powered down and logging into My Verizon to confirm the device that is appearing there. If it's not, please go through the "Switch Device" process once again. Once you confirm the Thunderbolt appears for the line, remove the battery and SIM Card, wait 30 seconds and then reinsert both. Power just the Thunderbolt on and when it turns on you should see an activation screen. If this doesn't appear then the SIM Card is not truly activating and may need to be replaced. A store location can provide a new SIM Card and corporate stores offer them at no cost. If the activation begins the device should be activated within 3-10 minutes. Please let us know if you have additional concerns.
