A few weeks ago my daughter's 3 week old Rezound started having problems. When she powered it on in the morning it would go through the normal start-up cycle but as soon as the home screen appeared, it would lock up and then seconds later re-start itself. Once it was in this cycle there was no stopping it. It would constanly do this until either we removed the battery or the battery died (which, if you have a Rezound, you know doesn't take long). Called Verizon and they said they had not heard of this problem but it they would replace it under the warranty program. Requested overnight delivery, which I had to pay extra for. It did not arrive the next day...it was pending a supervisors approval I was told. In the end, it took over a week to get the replacement phone. Now, guess what! My Rezound has started doing the same thing. Is anyone else having this problem? BTW, I know I am not the first to say it but Verizon's warranty policy and customer service SUCK! I should be able to get a replacement phone from the same people who sold me the phone.

I had this problem before the software update, and the software update was suppose to help prevent this. Can you confirm the device has the latest software? By the way, Verizon saying 'they never heard of this problem' is BS!!!!! Many Rezound owners experienced this issue.
One thing that helped me when I encountered the continuous rebooting was after pulling the battery, hold the volume button down and the power button to access the boot loader screen, from there, you can perform a factory reset and that will atleast prevent the constant rebooting and possibly permanently fix the issue.
Sorry you're experiencing this w/ customer service... that's absolutely unacceptable.

If I remember correctly (and I could be wrong) this happens when the phone turns on the wrong cellular radio. Some Rezounds bootloop when they go into WCDMA mode. The easiest way to change this (if you can get the phone to boot) is to install the app LTE ON/OFF from the Play Store. This app will open up a menu enabling you to change the radio in use.

I found out what the issue was because my Rezound was having this issue. Verizon wanted me to factory reset my phone. I didn't want to do this because I have about 200 apps on my phone. I did some research and here is what you do:
1. Turn the phone off
2. Take the back off the phone (The antenna are in the back)
3. Start the phone
4. When it loads to the home screen, open the dialer and press *#*#4636#*#*
5. When a new menu appears titled "Testing" tap Phone Information
6. Scroll down where you will see a drop down menu to tap on u nder the words "Set preferred network type:"
7. Select "CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto"
8. Once you do that back all the way out to the home screen, shut the phone off, put the back and and start the phone.
9. Problem solved until it does it again and then repeat all the steps again.
I restart my phone every few days just to clear memory and it happens about every fifth time a restart. I actually have learned to go into the menu as a described about and check that the phone is in the right setting before I restart and it usually doesn't have a problem. I hope this helps.

Good tip on removing the back of the phone. After I posted my response I was left wondering how one would get out of the bootloop, but if the antennae are "disconected", there will be no signal causing the loop. And, FWIW, the LTE ON/OFF app goes to the same menu, but with one click. The Play Store description states that it is for the TBolt, but works just fine on the Rezound.

I tried to follow the steps that JamesBondB9 posted but my phone wouldn't stay on the home page long enough to get to the dialer before it rebooted. I called the Verizon support line and they gave me the same steps to take with one additional step: 2a Before starting the phone, remove the SIM card
After removing the SIM card, the main menu stayed active and I was able to get to the dialer and follow the steps that JamesBondB9 listed. The support person indicated that there was a software fix scheduled to be released in March to resolve the problem, as well as fix some other issues, but it has not yet been released.
I hope this helps.

Thank you, James Bond.. I have had a Rezound replaced already due to this same problem, and have called verizon wireless, and this is EXACTLY the steps they had me do to resolve the problem. I just couldn't remember what they were, and am unable to use the phone to call them again. HTC? Never again.

I received my Rezound about 10 months ago and when I picked it up to use it yesterday, it just started going into an endless reboot cycle. I pulled the battery and the SIM card and reseated both thinking that it may have been just a software glitch but I got to the opening screen and after just a few seconds, it started going into the reboot cycle again. I had to take the battery out to stop it... I could not turn it off. My search for a solution is what got me here. I saw the solution that someone posted on this thread and will give it a try. Very frustrating because I was travelling home from a business trip and had no way of communicating with family and no quiet time to try the work-around.

I think verizon should have an answer to this problem. There is absolutely no reason for this. I'm really pissed!!!

OMG let me tell you. I have had the worst time with my Rezound. I have never had a phone as bad as this phone and hopefully will never have another worst as the HTC Rezound. It constantly blacks out after calls and will stay out until I do a battery pull and the screen goes black when I make a phone call so it is difficult to answer a call on the other line or even make a three way call. Also my phone kept resetting itself then would get to the home screen and reset again and that was a big inconvience for me. I have talked with customer/tech support multiple times and finally had to do a factory reset and that did not fix the issue. The Rezound is just a terrible phone to purchase. I should have stuck with Motorola....LOL. I am soooo upset with the HTC Rezound.

I wish I had an answer for you, as I am having the same problem. I got my phone in April 2012 and hadn't had any problems. I really enjoyed it's features and ease of use. One morning when I got home from work, I realized the battery was dead. I figured that I had left an app running to cause this, since I don't have to charge my battery that often. After charging the battery was when I realize that it was stuck in this loop. I'm guessing it had been doing it since the last time I had used it the night before. I carried it to verizon, they seemed confused more than myself. I had already changed the memory card, left the battery out for a couple of hours. The only thing I hadn't done was change the battery or sim card. My guess it was one of the two. They sent me a replacement phone the next day. Installed the sim card , battery and memory card and the same thing right off the bat. I carried both phone to the store told them the problem. I am now waiting on my third phone. I hope I don't have the same problem with it. In the meantime I'm using my previous phone before my upgrade. I will try some of the suggestions listed. I had tried the restart in safe mode which didn't work either.
With the second phone they replaced the sim card, saying that it was malfunctioning. The phone seemed to work fine in the store, but after I got home it started doing it again. I had to do a factory reset, and re-establish service. It seemed to do fine until I got the confirmation that had service. I don't know if it has something to do with the launching of the 4g or the phone itself. But all this as got me thinking about switching service. BTW: I've been with verizon since 2005 and never had a problem with any of the phones I had before.

I'm on my third unit now and it definitely does this. When it gets into this mode, the thing gets rocket hot and the battery doesn't last long.

I forgot to mention that as long as my phone is connected to my computer in debugging mode it doesn't keep restarting. Everything works normally, but as soon as I disconnect from the computer it starts the reboot cycle again.
I'm still waiting on my third phone and I have the old on the charger and it kept rebooting for a while, but it finally stopped after the battery got a full charge. It's not activated because I'm tired of switching back and forth between my previous phone and the rezound.

My son is having the same problem. We are presently waiting for phone #3. He got his phone on 7/15. 3 weeks later the battery became hot and his phone started randomly shutting off and when he turns it on it would go into a loop. The second phone only lasted 3 days before the battery heating up and the phone going into the loop. Brought it back to the store and got a new battery. 3days after the battery replacement the phone continues to shut on and off....7 times total today. I wanted to swap out the phone but was told we were unable to because of there 14 day policy. Our only option is a replacement phone. Sadly my son originally went in to get an Iphone but got talked into this phone by the sales rep stating "It's 4G...better screen...faster". Amazingly just 3 weeks later the phone is not available in the store......

Sorry to hear verizon hasn't been helpful.. since you are having a device issue, have you tried to contact the manufacture of the device for device help with the device? I mean verizon is a great service provider, but they dont really have "tech" support they just have customer service reps

I have had the same problems, went through my first 4 Rezounds in less then 2 months, powercycling, the service was awful, I also paid extra for delayed next day shipping. I thought the last phone was going to work, but 6 months later I have the same problem. I am on an employee account, and have been treated like crap. Today they told me that they were out of the Rezounds and planning on sending me a Droid Razr, which was music to my ears. They said that the Rezounds were not in stock, but the company should be honest and say that they pulled them because of all the problems. I have tried all of the suggestions on here, and I wish they helped but they did not. I am disappointed in treatment I received, and more so now because I see that I was not the only person with the problem by far. Never again will I get an HTC phone, a Droid, and I am considering switching providers after this whole situation because it was ridiculous.

My son is also having the same problem with hisRrezound. Presently awaiting his 3rd replacement phone. His phone also starting going into the "loop" 3 weeks after we bought it (of course that is just past the 14 day return policy). I am very frustrated with the run around we have been getting from Verizon. I have been a Verizon customer for many years and have been very satisfied until now.

Hey guys! Has anyone having trouble with the Navigation app on your HTC Rezound? Every time I would use it, it automatically shuts down in the middle of my driving. It started doing that since I installed the new system upgrade -well it downgraded it. Has anyone know any solutions? Thank you.

It' not the OS upgrade, it's Maps. The most recent version causes reboots on the Rezound (and possibly other phones). I've heard that clearing cache and data for the app sometimes helps, but I would suggest uninstalling updates.

uninstalling Maps updates solves the rebooting problem.
also make sure you don't have maps on auto update or the problem will come right back (go into Google Play and My Apps)
