Anyone figure out the time zone issue?

Hey Everyone,

I've read about this on some other forums and there seems to be no resolution, nor acknowledgement by VZW or HTC that this is an issue (unless I missed it)

I am in Arizona, and when the time is set to network time, it goes back and forth between Pacific and Mountain (currently an hour difference) and only remain in Mountain when I set the network time myself, but, My Verizon doesnt work unless youre on network time.

I've seen in other forums this is impacting users in NM, AZ and CA.

Pretty essential part of the phone...wonder why it doesn't work.

Keep in mind that the time you're getting is being pulled from the verizon tower. The tower could be in a different time zone.

Also AZ time is very confusing for anyone not in AZ, because don't you guys not have Daylight Savings Time? In any case..

Are you saying the "My Verizon" app doesn't work. or what exactly doesn't work. I can't even imagine my phone not having the correct time. Are you right next to the time zone line?

Nah, I am not right by the time zone, but about 180-200 miles away (guessing) not sure if that constitutes as close because of the range of the 4G towers. As for My Verizon,  that is correct, you cannot access the app unless your phone is on network time. There is always a work around (switching the time zone for correct time, then switching it back to utilize the app) but just figured something like the time wouldnt be too hard to determine.

I thought leaving the location checked on would help, but it didnt

I just noticed this last night.  Was 3am but the phone said it was 2am.  What is strange is that in the 4 days I had the phone, I don't think it did that before.

I went to date and time and unclicked the Use network time and set the timezone to AZ instead of Mountain and the time popped back to where it belongs.

Hard to fathom that the towers don't know what state they are in.   This is in the Phoenix area so it is not a near the border issue.   Until I read this, I didn't know not using network time would prevent anything from working, but I rarely use the VZW tools on the phone.

Thanks for bringing this issue up! I've done some research, and I see that this will be fixed in the next software update on the device.  We don't have an ETA for the fix, but HTC is well-aware of the issue, and it'll be addressed in the next maintenance release.

I don't know of any workarounds yet, but if I come across any, I'll be sure to update this thread.

Thanks again,

Is it logical to assume therefore that, in order to receive an update from Verizon (be it the one to correct this issue or be it the ICS update), one must have the Network dertermined time box checked?

hope not, but luckily Mountain and Pacific are on the same time so I can get away with leaving it checked.

That's great if you live in AZ. I, however, live in NM and having that unchecked puts me an hour off all the time.

That bites! Maybe the ICS software will fix it...if it ever comes to the Rezound, which I am starting to doubt.

Ive researched this for many weeks and found nothing...the issue seems to be isolated to the southwest, therefore, it doesnt get too much attention. I was thinking there was maybe a 3rd party app that overrides HTC's clock but found nothing...probably because one would think something as simple as a clock (by comparison to other components of the device) should work without issue! lol
