Anyone having problems with the mobile network going in and out?

I have had my Thunderbolt for a week and a half and have already swapped it out for a new Thunderbolt and have been on the phone with Verizon Tech support and to the Verizon store almost every single day since I got it. My 2 biggest issues were: the battery (I know it's not going to last long but...2 & 1/2 hrs to drain after having it for 5 days??) And yes, I know all about my running applications and switching from 3G and 4G to save battery life. But still - it seems ridiculous for a battery to last that little amount of time, especially since I didn't even make a phone call or check my email on it in those 2 & 1/2 hrs. #2 issue and probably my biggest complaint is this: my phone will say "4G LTE" with 4 reception bars and it won't connect to any web page. I will go to my wireless settings and the "Mobile Network" will just keep saying "turning on...". That was the reason I had to trade out my 1st Thunderbolt. I really want to love this phone and when it works, it works great and is superfast but it has NOT worked so much in the week and a half of having it that I am starting to HATE it...

Do u have the new update or not? I don't get 2 1/2 hrs but I don't have 4g. It could be battery but it could be how ur display is etc. It could be because the signal overtime it checks that uses battery.

for issue 2 I had that with 3g though. I had to delete everything then I got another phone after 10 days of it. The update fixed it but then rooting issues. Now I got a replacement to that without the update and its fine. Mine lasts 5 hrs without 4g. I'm using it its not like I just have it hibernateing.

I would pull battery then refresh it by taking sim card out then put it back.

I live the same nightmare every day. I get about 5 hours from the oem battery but the connection issues drive me up the walls. Here's not so funny story, I was in a store 2 days ago getting a new sim card for my second replacement Thunderbolt because tech support is just shot gunning these diagnosis's hoping something will stick and while waiting for my sim card to activate I started playing with a Droid charge and a Thunderbolt. The Charge is cool but I moved over to the Thunderbolt and opened the home page then performed a search and the page stopped loading then after a while it said " page not available". I refreshed and tried closing the browser and loading page again but same thing no connection. I step back over to the Charge and load the same site in seconds. T-bolt still dead. I grabbed a CSR and he says " yeah that happens sometimes, I usually just grab another demo when that happens". My mouth drops and I say don't you think this is a problem and he garbled some pathetic response about the network blah blah blah. Moral of the story I guess is that if you really like your Thunderbolt just deal with it till.... we get another supposed update then cross your fingers and hope it will help. I'm just going to keep calling tech support till a fix comes out because I have too much invested in my T-bolt to give up at this point and if these are still issues after a few more months then I'll be in Verizon's ear till they give me a different device.

OMG I can't believe that the CSR actually said that. {as I bang my head on the wall in frustration}

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Try calling htc.

Anyway there is an update that should be coming out sometime "soon" that addresses most of the problems the thunderbolt has been having with battery life and connectivity...

As far as another device, good luck.. Unless you want an incredible

The update kept on rooting the phone after. There's going to be another update soon to fix the rooting as well as everything the other one did I heard from HTC after they prove the reboot is software related so I assume that's either gingerbread or another fix.

I was able to resolve this issue on my ThunderBolt. My problem was that I would enable "Mobile network" and "Mobile Hotspot," and the mobile network would constantly reset its connection.

The solution for me was to make sure everything happens in exactly this order:

  1. Ensure both "Mobile Hotspot" and "Mobile network" are switched off;
  2. Turn on "Mobile network" and wait for it to say "Connected.";
  3. Turn on "Mobile Hotspot".

It's never failed since, even when I connect devices to the hotspot for 8 hours or longer. The secret, apparently, is to harness the power of patience.

Just thought I'd chime in.  I was having the hotspot issues with my thunderbolt since the first day.  Got a replacement handset and same problem, the hotspot would frequently drop me and I'd have to reset the hotspot.

I just got the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus and NO MORE PROBLEMS.  Its been 4 hours and I haven't been dropped once.  I even walked away from the computer for 45 minutes, came back and it was still connected.  The phone is awesome all around.  If you're having the hotspot issues just get rid of that POS thunderbolt.  I also hear the samsung charge is no better.

Just thought I'd share my experience.
