Has anyone figured out how to get one day of battery life out of the Thunderbolt. I am charging at least 3x a day. This is terrible! If they don't fix this problem fast I plan on suing Verizon /HTCfor non-performance. This is a contractual breach. Anyone want to become a part of a class action?

*sigh* another empty law suit threat
did you search this forum? ive seen several threads about battery life
and how to get more out of it
im beggining to think a knowledge test is required prior to purchasing a phone
"So sorry, your answers only qualify you for this 1992 vintage bag phone"
"sorry sir, no smartphone for you, just htis basic flip phone, oh and no camera, maybe next time you can study up and do better"

sorry....but if you researched it at all, you would've found that the battery blows (along with every other htc android). unless you're fine with an extended battery, or are frequently near a charging option, then any htc android is not going to be acceptable to you. this was known before the phone was even launched. i had hoped that they would end up putting a 1700-1800mah battery in it, but no such luck. they are content to make even more $ on the sales of the extended battery. you can waste your time and money prsuing a lawsuit that will go nowhere.....or you can simply return it for something with a better baterry life. the iphone has a great battery life and i believe the moto X and Fascinate have decent battery lives (for android anyway).

oh please don't go there. There are enough over in that forum already whining and threatening lawsuits for the lack of Froyo. Granted most of those have apparently gotten the ban hammer.

As an actual licensed attorney who attended law school I highly doubt that you did as well, considering you cannot construct a sentence with proper grammar, but please......humor us. On what theory would your class action suit be based?

I went to the store that I bought this phone at yesterday complaining about the battery life "issue" with this phone. Verizon states on the site that it only has a 390 minute battery = 6.5 hrs.... **bleep**... That is best case scenereo. If you get on the 4g network, it drops considerably. I bought the phone on the 21st of March and they wouldn't let me exchange it for something that actually works correctly. What a bunch of crap. Anyway, I complained enough and showed the manager of the store that the battery is a very big issue with this phone with complaints on Verizon's own web site. I told the guy that the phone itself is great, but the battery itself SUCKS! So he comp'd me the extended battery at no cost. Honestly, I think that HTC should do something about the phone, not Verizon. Maybe if enough people complain about the battery life, HTC will get the picture and fix it. I doubt it though. Its obvious that they know there is a problem, otherwise they wouldn't have released an extended battery for it so quickly. Now what makes this whole situation worse is that this phone is my wifes LOL! So you know I hear about it constantly. I have a buddy that went to Denver last weekend to a concert and was on the 4g network, which he said had "ludicrous speed" (sorry for the spaceballs reference), but his phone lasted 2.5 hrs before it died. That was on a full charge. Why would a company release a product that they know will be blasted as soon as people figure out that the battery doesn't last at all. Kinda stupid in my opinion. But the new battery will be here Thursday. Hopefully it will help remedy the problem somewhat. I did hear about a new app on engadget.com that allows a person to disable the 4g//3g search and only use the 3g network. I am not sure this will work because I had a full charge on the phone yesterday at noon, and by 5 p.m., the battery was down to half, and it HAD NOT BEEN USED, except for receiving emails. No phone calls, no video recorded NATTA. So you tell me whats up with this battery hog.
I sure hope that the IPHONE5 has better battery life. If its anything like the IPAD, it will be fine. I like the android os just as much as I do the IOS. I just want a phone that functions well and doesn't drain the battery like a fuel pump off the space shuttle does to a swimming pool.
Anyway, thanks for letting me rant,
Tim

You're going to sue!?! Really?!? I mean honestly these Android phones have been out for several years now...and I'm pretty sure that everyone knows that the battery life is pretty short. Do you have a case...I think not. The extended battery is available for purchase so just go get it!

A self-proclaimed patent attorney wannabe litigator....please sir, do tell where on the contract it states that the battery will conform to a specific criteria (or where the battery is even mentioned, for that matter), as you are libellously alleging?

I agree with him that the battery life is probably not close to what is stated. But the real problem isn't even the parts they have allegedly misrepresented. It's more that they haven't stated any numbers regarding 4G usage, which is a joke. The 2.6GB memory misrepresentation is more of an issue. HTC / Verizon Wireless took some major liberties with these numbers but at least anyone could have predicted that this phone's battery life would be on the poor end when they decided to put in the smallest battery every seen in a 4G phone. Brilliant.... Would you like to purchase an extended battery for that phone sir?

lol....and NOW you can't even purchase that extended battery. i tried when i ordered mine and they are sold out online. i had to order it because the local stores are sold out of the tbolt. i figured i'd just order the phone and then buy a battery at a store.....stores are sold out of the extended battery too. so my tbolt lives on the charger until i can get an extended battery.

I have no problem getting around 14 hours on my battery. I make sure I turn off any running apps when I am done with them.

I agree with getting the LTEoff app, if you are not in a 4g area that is a major battery drain. Also, dim down your screen off full. Those sense app's that continually update also cause drain. If you use the email app, change the setting to manually retrieve.

i'm in a strong 4g market and i still turned off 4g. it KILLED my battery. i've been on 3g only today and am at 9+ hours of up time and an hour and 45 minutes awake time. still have over 40% juice left. i'm good with that!!!!! i'll just turn on the 4g radio when i'm streaming or downloading something.

First and foremost, you cannot open a class action lawsuit over the battery life of your phone. MFG list battery life of the devices they sell under optimal conditions and are only guidelines for what a consumer should expect. With that being said there are many factors that effect the battery life of the Thunderbolt. Turn your location based services off. Shut the WiFi off if its not being used, and the same for Bluetooth. Also the frequency of you task killer should be no higher than aggressive and not any more frequent that 1 time per hour. With all that being said limit the number of widgits that you run to 5 or less. That should be plenty for any user. Also if your not located in a 4G/LTE Market, Download and app called "LTEOnOff" from the market, once installed elect the "CMDA auto (PRL)" option. Should be the first choice on the list. This will dramatically improve the life of the battery. If you are in a 4G/LTE Market download the program anyway. Turn the LTE off when you don't need it. Primary function of LTE is data speeds, no one needs 5-12 Mbps all day. And if all else fails, you dropped $250 on the device, quit being cheap and buy the extended battery. JR-
