When I go to: Menu, Settings, then Software Update and check for new softward, it checks for a really long time and then says "ERROR SERVICE UNAVAILABLE Check for Softwar Update under SEtting whjen service is available". Yet i do have service. My husband bought a Thunderbolt the same day I did and his is doing this too. This worked when we first got the phones, but its been doing this for about 3 days. We are in a 3G area which I know has issues, but it does the same thing when the phone is in a 4G area. I know that updates are sent via text, but this feature shoud still work like it did when we bought the phone. What going on???

Switch your Thunderbolt to 1X then check for updates. For some reason it will let you get it that way and won't give the ERROR. I did it on two Thunderbolts yesterday took about 45 min to download each. I used the LTE on/off app to swtich to CDMA only then just wait for the 1X to pop up and go to settings and check for for updates.

I'm doing it successfully. But is this the infamous update that's announced on VErizon's site that is supposed to "enhance 3G connectivity", etc. that was released yesterday and is supposed to be texted to me????? Or is this one a different update?- it says "downloading firmware".

They usually don't text you that an update is available until about a week or so after it was released. At that was what my experience was with my Eris.

Can anyone clarify if this update is a 2nd update from two days ago. I read on some forum that the new build number is 1.13.605.7-1.12. I have this without the -1.12, am I current?
Reason hopefully this fixes the phone rebooting every hour bug.
Thanks.

mine is the same: 1.13.605.7-1.12.605.6 it seems to have fixed my connectivity issues when the phone is in a 3G area. I'd like to know if I'm current and also if this is the update that Verizons has been announcing for a week that came out yesterday the 13th

Does anyone know exactly how many updates there have been in the last 72 hours. One or two?

1.12.605.6 = old software build number
1.13.605.7 = new software build number
There was only one update for the Thunderbolt in the last few days.

Some have been successful by forcing the phone into 1x mode using the LTEOnOff app and changing the phone to CDMA only or you could use the fix that was available during the LTE outage to force your phone the EDVO Rev A. Instructions are in the link.

I forced it into 1X mode this morning which is how I got the update this morning 12.605.6 (old software build number). Do I even want the 1.13.605.7 (new software build number)?? I'm not having any issues with rebooting and the update fixed my problem of inconsistant connectivity when the phone was in a 3G area. Should I just leave well enough alone? Will they text me an new update later when they feel they have all these issues worked out?

Are you sure you didn't just download it, but have not installed the update?

no I'm not sure. i'm pretty stupid when it comes to this stuff. I just followed the instructions someone gave me to force it into 1X mode using the LTEOnOff app in CDMA only mode, looked for new software updates and let it do its thing. How can I check to see that its been installed?? Thanks for your help!

Like some of you in the forum, I had the same issue "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE" when checking for new updates. In a way, I am glad that I wasn't able to get the update. After hearing all the "REBOOTING" issues, I am really not sure if I should update of not. I am new to Verizon, having switched my service from T-Mo because of the lots n lots of problems they had with the Galaxy S phones and updates........It seems like the problems just followed me to Verizon.
Should I update? If I should, then I really need to install the LTEOnOff app to bypass the current problem. VZW tech support don't have the answer, HTC Support just throw me back to VZW. Went into the store, had the SIM card switched and performed a hard reset.....after all that. still got the "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE" error......Not a good start with Verizon and HTC

The software number on my phone is "1.13.605.7"....and there are NO #s after the 7....AND....I am having the random reboot problems that EVERBODY is talking about elsewhere in the VZW support community forums and lots of other forums on the net.
Verizon AND HTC.....What the *&@@ is YOUR problem with this phone's firmware and/or software?!?!?!
