Contact ringtones don't work after changing main ringtone

It's a minor problem -- which is great!  -- but I'd like to resolve it if possible.

 

  • I assign a ringtone to a contact.
  • It works.
  • I change the main ringtone.
  • When contact calls me, their ringtone doesn't sound.  The new main one does.

I have to go into each contact with a separate ringtone and reselect it for it to work again.

 

Any ideas?

Yes, setting the default (main) ringtone will override caller ID tones. I would recommend setting the default first, and then setting the specific tones for your caller ID. That way, the default doesn't reset your customization.

So I can never change the default without having to re-set the individuals?

Yes, you can change the default without effecting the personal ringtones.

If you are using an App to download and store ringtones, you should access 'Files' when changing a ringtone rather than the App or the installed ringtones.
