False repeating message "unable to send e-mail"

After I attempted to send a e-mail to an address with a bad extension, I logically got the message "unable to send e-mail.  However the message will not go away.  I can send e-mail, no problem.  I have rebooted, Put in my mail settings over again, but to no avail.  Even though my e-mail is working fine ...the message "unable to send e-mail" keeps popping up.   Anyone know a solution?

I found the answer.

email is still in the outbox of the email app. Deleted it.

I have same problem.   But when I go the the out box and hit menu, there is no delete button to clear out the stuff in outbox.  How did you delete it???
