HTC Rezound Won't Let Me Access Email Accounts

So a few weeks ago, my phone just stopped letting me access email. When I click on the email icon, it gives me a screen to set up a new email account. If I try to input one of my accounts, it gives me an error message that the account is already on the phone. So I went into the settings / sync, tried removing an account. It indeed removed the account from any showing area on the phone, but when I try to then re-add the account as if it were new, I get the same error message--already set up on phone. I can access one of my gmail accounts (the one for the phone account) through the gmail icon only, but none of my other accounts. I've tried lots of scenarios that include removing sim card, battery, etc. I tried calling support, but they said they couldn't think of anything else to try. Is there any way to get access to the accounts already set up on the phone? What gives? Am I stuck with a smart phone that won't let me access my email?

Hello Community,

I understand email is an important form of communication.  I would like to suggest a few troubleshooting steps to assist.  Please login to your My Verizon account here http://bit.ly/Ju1mcB and you will see an edit option at the top right side of the screen.  Choose edit and delete the mail account.  Also, please clear the cache and data on your email application by navigating to Settings>Manage Applications>All>Email>Clear data & cache.  Once both steps are completed please remove the battery from the device and once powered up please try to setup the account and advise if successful.  Thank you.

I am not original poster, but I had the very same problem this morning.  Though your advice didn't work exactly as you described, I was able to use some of those tips and get it working again.  Thanks!

My HTC Rezound stopped letting me get my email - it worked for two days.  The help desk does not have a clue.  I use this for business - very frustrated.   I have tried everything.

My Rezound stopped syncing my email yesterday. It allows me to sync through the Gmail app once I have refreshed it but will not allow my HTC Email app to download my email. It continues to say login failed or 401 error. I tried the steps above and they did not work for me. I haven't had a single problem with my phone until yesterday. It as well started having trouble intermittently with keeping the 4G signal. I fear my only step next is to do a factory data reset. Ugh!

Only thing that fixed this for me was to do a hard reset. Haven't had a single other problem with my email since.

This is happening to me right now.  This is about the 5th time.  However, I can't seem to clear the problem this time.  My phone is stuck in add a new email account mode.  I use this phone for work and I am basically screwed!  This is the worst phone I have ever had.  😞
