HTC Rezound soft keys not responding - Part 2

screenracer
Newbie

I am having the same problem as discussed in the closed thread. I went though page after page, and I was unable to find a fix. The soft keys on my wife's Rezound hardly work, and some times to the point of having to restart the device to get to the home screen, because Home and Back are not responding to touch. Tonight I backed up her phone and did a factory reset, while this phone really needed to be wiped, it did not fix the soft key's lack of response. If anything I have learned, I get a better response when the screen his horizontal.

My wife doesn't want to replace the phone, so please do not offer that as an option. We do have the replacement plan, but the fine print reads we still would have to fork out hundreds for the replacement...

A few months ago I downgraded to a slide phone (very happy), so I have an extra HTC phone that I can test. I just started up tonight to see if it had any issues. The soft keys are still working on it and I checked the software version, it is running on the same version as my wife's phone.

If anyone has a solution (that doesn't involve rooting) please share.

I am open to replies from Verizon, but please do not include the following as a way to fix it since all have failed for me:

• Safe Mode

• Pulling the battery

• Hard Reset

• Factory Reset

• wipe the cache partition

• Understand your frustration

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Wow! I'm impressed with all of the troubleshooting that you have already done screenracer. If the issue persist after those steps then I believe the issue may be hardware related. May I ask why your wife doesn't want a replacement? (Assuming she qualifies for one.) The only other option is to reach out to the manufacturer directly for additional assistance. The number to HTC is 866-449-8358.

Thank you…
