HTC Rhyme won't charge

I've never had an issue with my HTC Rhyme, but I went to plug it in to charge last night and it won't charge either through the docking station or by direct plug in.  I'm assuming battery?  Any other suggestions?

We have the same issue with this phone.   We can't get it to charge either on docking station or wall charger.  Since there is no removable battery to replace I would love an answer from Verizon as to what can be done.  See that no one has responded to your initial post from June.  Hopefully we can get someone to answer this soon.

Mine just started this too, where it won't charge.  Now the battery gets so hot that I can't hold it if it's been on the charger too long.  I've turned the phone completely off, and tried to charge that way, but nothing is helping.  I think I'm going to have a pretty good feeling about buying the insurance on this one.

I see you have tried a number of troubleshooting steps to resolve the device issue!  Is the charging issue intermittent or does it not recognize the charge at all?  Are you using the wall charger that came with your device?  Please check the charging ports for any damage or liquid corrosion.  If these problems are still happening after completing these steps, I highly recommend taking the phone, battery and chargers into one of our store locations http://bit.ly/TnUkMM so they can determine which part is defective.  Please keep me informed!

Anthony,

I have tried numerous things.  I had it charging on the dock, my wall charger and my car charger and nothing seemed to help.  The phone actually became too hot to touch a few times.  Now, it is staying cool.  Don't know why, but today it's better as far as temperature, but it still won't hold a charge for more than maybe fifteen minutes.

I went to the local Verizon store and Omar took very good care of me.  I will be sending this phone back to Verizon.

Thank you for your attention,

Paula

We never ignore our customers issues daddy7451. We care because charging your phone is definitely important to staying connected to friends and family. I'm sorry you're having issues with charging your phone. Is the charging port, phone or charger damaged? Sometimes the charging port can be loose or damaged and cause issues with phone charging. Are you using the charger that came with your phone If your phone is not damaged at all and still within the one-year manufactures warranty, it can be replaced. I look forward to hearing from your.

I am also having this problem. I know it's not the charger because it worked on my friends htc rhyme. I think something has become loose on the actual phone. I know I didn't get insurance on my phone but I've had it less than a year. Am I likely going to need a new phone or can they do something to my current phone to fix it? Also, since it's been less than a year is there some kind of warranty? Just wondering if I'm going to have the expense of a new phone coming up Smiley Sad

Thanks for sharing your concern eheynach. I'm confident that we can partner togather and get the best solution for you. After all, who wants to be without their phone? May I ask is there any liquid or physical damage on the device? Also, have you tried a different charger on your phone. I highly recommend this step since you have confirmed that you already tried your charger on another device. Once you have done so then please update us on your findings so we can offer the most accurate solution.

Thank you...

I am having the same issue.  Phone will not take a charge either through the direct line or on the charging station.  I have had this phone for only 4 months.

Let's get that phone charged up for you TBrannock.  Is there any damage to your device? Have you tried any other chargers on your phone beside the two that you have? Please keep us posted. We will find a solution for you.

Thanks, BobbyS_VZW

This is definitely not true in my case!!  Smiley Sad  The Brookfield, WI is AWFUL.  I went in with this same issue (no charge)....pretty much said out of luck.  NO OFFERS for solutions.  I countered by saying that's a shame as I'm currently month to month, and will probably switching.  John just shrugged his shoulders at me.  To say I am furious is an understatement.  Sickening that there is a complete disregard for loyal 10+ year customers.

tink581, I'm here to ease your frustrations. You've been with us for over 10 years. We definitely want to continue this wireless relationship. Let's look into your options. Did you subscribe to Total Equipment Coverage which provides you with an extended warranty? http://vz.to/qMsRtb Are you eligible to upgrade to a new device? http://bit.ly/zpAY1E

LasinaH - I've tried at the store -- even though I am month to month - I am not eligable for an upgrade -- rep told me NOTHING can be done other than me buying a new phone.  Why should I stay with VZW??  The plan prices are NON competitive for what I use, the deals on phones (upgrades) use to be excellent, however now are also nonexistant, and lastly the customer service is poor.

The insurance doesn't do diddly -- you pay monthly and still have a high deductable for a USED phone replacement = SCAM to me.  So, no I do not have it.

@tink581,

I truly appreciate your long time loyalty and want us to stay together for many more years.

Being able to charge your phone is a must! Have you tried using different chargers? Has there been any damage to the phone? When was the phone purchased? If it's under the 1 year warranty and there's no damage we can replace at no cost.

Please follow me, JohnB_VZW, and send a direct message with your name, mobile number, and billing password so I can access and review the account. I want to see what options you have available.

I'm sure we can find a solution and keep you as a customer.

I am also having problems with my phone charging.  It will not charge any more with the house charger that came with it or the car charger.  I have not dropped this phone or spilled anything on it.  So far, the only way I can charge it is on the dock, but that won't help me when I'm in the car and it needs charging.  I have already sent the first phone back because it got to where it wouldn't charge with any charger or the dock.  I don't understand why this keeps happening.  I only had the first one a little over a month before I had to send it back.  I just got the HTC RHYME in July and this is the second phone that is acting up the same way.  So this is the third month of owning an HTC RHYME and I've had problems charging with two phones.  This doesn't sound too good to me.  I hate to think that I am going to have to send this phone back every other month.  I really do like a lot of the features of this phone but the service is worse than ever.  I thought this was supposed to be an upgrade from the Samsung Droid.  If it is an upgrade, that means it's supposed to be better, right?  Then, please explain to me why I have more dropped calls, and I can't even send or receive texts in the house any more.  I can't even receive calls in the house.  I just don't understand this.  With my Samsung Droid, I had no problems sending or receiving texts in the house and I could actually receive a call in the house.  Not so with the HTC RHYME. I do not live close to a Verizon store, so I don't have a way of getting it checked out.  Please help me.

You would actually follow the rep on the Verizon Wireless Community forum not Twitter. You send a follow request to using the steps in .

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I am on my 2nd HTC Rhyme and it is not taking a charge. The first one did exactly the same thing, so I was sent a replacement, as I was still within my one year warranty. The second one ended up having the same issue after a few months, but now it is out of the one year warranty, so my local Verizon store is telling me that I have to buy a new phone.

I think this is ridiculous. These phones are apparently all lemons and the consumers are stuck with a huge bill. I have three phones on my plan and the contract is up in July. I'm researching other options because I'm not confident with Verizon.

Is there any way Verizon will help? Will you send a replacement phone and I will upgrade to a new phone in July when the contract is up?
