HTC Sync with Outlook

To people who sync outlook contacts and calendar using the HTC Sync software:

Are the contacts synced into the standard 'people' app on the phone? Or in a separate app created by the sync software?

and

My contacts are separated into categories. Are the categories shown on the phone?
