HTC Thunderbolt: Where Do I Put MP3 Files?

I want to use some customized ringtones on my HTC Thunderbolt, so the first thing to do is put the ringtones (MP# files) on the phone.  Now, when I connect the phone to my computer via USB and use Windows Explorer, there are several folders on the phone, plus the root directory.  Where do I put the MP3 files so that they  will appear on the available ringtones list?

I put my custom ringtones and notification tones in the following folders on the sd card. The phone finds them every time. Starting at the root of the sd card create...

/ media / audio / ringtones
/ media / audio / notifications
/ media / audio / alarms
