HTC rezound locking up

Hi,

I have been having issues with my HTC rezound. I bought it about 3 months ago along with an extended battery. After a month, the phone started locking up randomly. During a call, the screen would go black and remain that way even if press the power button or the volume button - such that I could not end the call by myself. The phone would remain locked up that way even if new calls came in. The only way to get out of it would be either to pull the battery out and then restart, or if I connect the phone to the charger  - the battery would have had at least 50% of its maximum charge, when this happened.

I want to the Verizon store a few times.

They changed the battery - no improvement

They did a factory reset - no improvement.

They ordered a new phone for me - it was okay for about a month and the same thing started again.

I returned to the Verizon store again.

Again they did a factory reset, changed the battery - but the problem persists.

And I have also twice had Error messages regarding my SD card.

They have ordered another phone for me - but I am not confident it will be any better - it has been a very frustrating experience.

If somebody has seen something similar and have found a solution, I would appreciate hearing from them.

Thanks

MK

I don't have a real solution, but maybe some troubleshooting tips.  When you get your new phone, don't install any apps on it until you have used it for a couple days.  You can then install them one or two at a time, with a few days use (make sure you use the apps after install and make a few phone calls in this time) in between installs until the problem presents itself.  Then uninstall the last app or two and see if it goes away.  What I'm getting at here is that some apps are poorly written (yes, even those in the Play Store) and sometimes don't play well with all phones.

I did not have this problem with my first Rezound but am now experiencing with my second one.  We did the same test, factory reset with no apps or SD, and got the same result.  I beleive it is firmware of hardware related.  I will be getting my 3rd Rezound tomorrow for more testing.

I am also experiencing the antenna issue as well.

i am on my second rezound now, and just today had to go get another one becuase my 2nd phone has been locking up, spazzing out.  it will dial phone numbers randomly.  it toggels between apps and panels, runs up and down in my contacts picks one randomly and dials the number.  about 5 days ago i bought the extended battery, ever since installing it my phone has acted this way.  i'm starting to believe this phone is a piece of junk....no it is a piece of junk.

Sorry to say, I have had 5 of these phones. almost all have done this to me. Just a quirk of the phone I guess. Hopefully the ICS update will correct this problem.

I take it you are still using the same phone? Have you tried getting a different one? Or is that not an option?

And I keep reading about this ICS, I’m guessing it’s the new “ice cream sandwich” don’t you think the problem we are having is more fw/sw related?

Thanks for you response.

It is FW/SW related. Yes, maybe I am little slow, but I keep getting another Rezound after each problem.. (LOL) For the most part, All my smart phones have been HTC's. I have had good luck with them. Maybe this model, I guess being dual core, and software being written for single core, is causing some issues. Just a guess.

After experiencing the blue-screen, proximity lock-up, and data drops, I am ready to jump ship. ICS will not fix these issues. I seriously doubt HTC will address these issues anytime soon due to the fact that Verizon doesn't recognize them as common bugs.

I got my second replacement phone about a month ago - and the problem has started all over again.

The phone cannot read the SD card. I went to Verizon store twice for this - even after replacing the SD card, the phone could not read it. It turns out that it is the phone and not the SD card. They suggested that I get a another replacement phone.

Piece of junk.

what do you mean locking up? when does it happen? does it just delay or completely locks you need to take battery out?

when did it start?

do you use go launcher, advance task killer, lookout etc? Have you tried to do a reset and not put your gmail on there to avoid any apps coming back? useally android freezing is app related nothing at all related to the device
