Happy medium in Syncing FB contacts?

When I sync my Facebook contacts, my ENTIRE FB friend list shows in my contacts.  When I go to contacts and uncheck FB but leave gmail sync, only the contacts I want are there, but those WITH facebook aren't synced with it.  Do I have to have all or nothing?  Cause I really don't want my entire friend list in my contacts- and I would like those I communicate with on my phone to be linked!

i'm pretty sure it's all or nothing. i believe if you want to add only some of your fb friends, you have to do it manually. i'm not positive though.

If you don't already have it, download Facebook for Android from the Android Marketplace.  Once you have it installed and get logged on, you should see the news feed page click the back arrow (3rd button over at the bottom of the phone).  You will get the main menu for Facebook.  Click the Menu button at the bottom of the phone and select Settings.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and you should see Sync Contacts, select it and it will give you the option of syncing all of your friends to your contacts, syncing only with you existing contacts (this is the one that you probably want), or removing Facebook data from you contacts.

or you can go into settings-->apps>facebook. clear the data and cahe and then when you open the fb app it will require you to login to your fb account again and prompt you for those syncing options (i see that page all of the time....i guess i should've paid more attention....lol...i always just select "don't sync").

I did that when I first downloaded FB, stargazer, and it happened anyway.  I just deselected sync FB contacts in my phone settings and went through my friend list and manually synced each one.  Phew!  But a new question arose- some of those contacts have several google/FB links listed.  Is that normal?
