Have any other Thunderbolt owners faced 4G connectivity issues?

I have had my TBolt for about 1.5 years now, and recently, data has been unusable. My 4G signal is constantly going in and out, making it impossible to even download an app or view a webpage. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? Thank you!

It happens to me EVERY DAY, but I don't think it's just on the Thunderbolt. It's Verizon's way of telling us we are using too much data, even though we have an unlimited plan. I can stare at my phone for an hour straight, with both 4GLTE arrows lit up. As soon as I try to watch a YouTube video or look at Facebook, it drops completely. It's deliberate. Every time I call about it, they say they are "working on the towers" in my area, but the stores in my town seem to know nothing of this. The other thing is that there are NO plans to update the operating platform to Ice Cream Sandwich for the Thunderbolt, which they were aware of when they sold it to you. We were purposely sold obsolete phones. Congratulations! January can't come soon enough.

I've had issues with 4G connectivity in my neighborhood and a 1 mile stretch of freeway a short drive from my house. Verizon's resolution was to have me switch my phone to 3G only.

I agree with TeeJayX. I think verizon is messing with our data too. My thunderbolt has been losing data service for the last several weeks. It was upgraded to version 2.11.605.19 710RD on 5/17/2012-I also used over 3 gigs of data last month. ever since, my service has been unreliable. I plan to change carriers. It seems Verizon can't troubleshoot THEIR problem.

I too, have been bamboozeled by the 4G. Upgraded in April, and have had no reception since. Have called and complained to them over 20 times. I even carried my computer to their store twice. Come to find out, we have no 4G tower around us.
I paid April, May & June bill, but I have refused to pay anymore. If necessary I will get a lawyer. Their are to offer a service and you are supposed to pay for that service. I am not paying for something that I am not getting! TIMES ARE TOUGH!!!

Hi ASThunderbolt4G
I'm sorry your experiencing data connection issues with your Thunderbolt. I know how important having a good data connection can be. Let's see if we can get this resolved quickly for you.
Please power down the device remove and reinsert the battery and sim card. Then power up in safe mode and retest. Here's how to power on in safe mode: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=40136
Do you still experience this in safe mode? If not it may be an application interfering. Please try deleting all third party applications and readd individually.
Please let me know if this helps, If not we will further troubleshoot this issue.
Thank you

I tried the safe mode, but the problem happens even there. By the way, the instructions for safe mode need updating. The screenshots are not remotely connected to the instructions, so it is very confusing.
I am running Android 2.3.4 and software # 2.11.605.19 710RD

I've noticed mainly with Facebook. As soon as I start Facebook, more than half the time my 4G/3G light goes away and I get Connection Lost in Facebook. I'm wondering if it's something the Facebook app is trying to do? I'd say this started happening about a month ago.

I've seen some people complaining of the Facebook application in particular. Maybe it's not your phone at all.

Hi ASThunderbolt4G!
Isn't it grand that Verizon Support took 11 days to offer the same 'advice' they've given others - advice that does not work. Try it for yourself - it won't work. Here's my advice - take your Thunderbolt and throw it against a brick wall as hard as you can. Now, this won't fix your phone either, but it might make you feel a lot better.
Have a great day!

I started having this problem right after the last update this year. It is strange that it only occurs while trying to use some of the programs but not others. I noticed today that the google map program is doing it as well now. I seem to agree with some of the people that say that this is a way that Verizon is trying dictate who gets to use the system. I have unlimited data and I'm sure that they can't wait until I buy a new phone to put me on one of the limited plans. This is a good way to do it. Make you think it's the phone so you will want to get a new one when your 2 years is coming up. Mine is up in November. I was recently in Arizona and most of the time my phone worked great under mostly 3G. However, once I got back into California and into the 4G area, my phone started doing it again. If it was the application, I'm sure I would have had the same problem in Arizona that I do in California. I'm sure it's Verizon. I'm really thinking about changing to AT&T or another provider when my contract ends in November. I can't see renewing and not being able to have unlimited data.
