Home screen weather shows wrong city

Does anyone know how to get the home page to display the weather for the correct city? I live in Rochester NY and it shows temp and conditions for Northwestern Comanche?  Verizon and Google location service are both active (checked). I can get it to show Rochester as city#2 but then I can't delete Northwest Comanche ( I believe that's in Oklahoma ) but it will allow me to delete where I am actually located (Rochester) Is there a way to get the gps to know it's not in Oklahoma?

Verizon tech service uninstalled the weather app, downloaded Weatherbug (free) from the market and I now have the weather for Rochester (temp in notification bar and other views when opened fron the notification. I'm happy (so far)

My Incredible does that all the time.  I was hoping the ThunderBolt wouldn't do the same thing.

Mine is doing this too, though its a little closer to where I actually am...in the same state least. Also, the weather is way off, its dark and cool outside and my phones telling me is 83 degrees out there. Pretty annoying.

Yeah, but does WeatherBug show up on the cool HTC Sense home page?

I'm wondering how they uninstalled this as I thought it was part of their Bloatware that couldn't be removed.  I'd love to be able to remove some other bloatware. : )

I've been plagued with this problem since owning the Tbolt for two weeks. I am either in Garden Grove California or Indianapolis Indiana with the associated time zone at those locations.  I've visited the store twice and performed a hard reset on the phone with no luck.  It is aggravating that such a minor problem renders a big nuisance.  I could live without the weather widget. I don't care if it works or not but when the time and time zone are incorrect that's another story.

I'm pleased with the rest of the phone.  Any ideas?

The "fix" done by Verizon tech worked until I rebooted the device because I removed the battery to read the SN to register  on the HTC forum website about access to HTCSense.com. Now it goes on vacation to other places ( must like the weather in those cities better:smileymad:

Verizon tech support has no idea why it is doing it.  My daughter has a Tbolt also which does not do this erratic behavior.  I was told to wait a week for a call back while network techs look into possibly the network causing it as opposed to the phone.  I'll post their information here when it is received.  Like I told them I care less about the weather but when the time changes on me, that is a big problem.

I use My-Cast and have tried TWC.  If you look often enough you will see these apps too will momentarily show you in the phantom location, albeit for a split second then they seem to come back to reality.

Yep...but at least TWC does come back to reality...can't say that for the Home Screen.

To be honest, I do find that the weather widget works.  In every teeny tiny hamlet located around where I live, the display shows what city, township, borough I happen to be in at the time.  However, in my bustling hometown, in which is located a huge Verizon Wireless corporate presence, it either shows "Current Location" or my home state - go figure.

Mine was showing I was in India a few times, I live in Florida, no where near my neighborhood. I just installed Beautiful Widgets. I like how this App looks better anyway, and it is highly cutomizable. I bought this paid app back when I had my Moto Droid 1, and have used it on my INC my X and now my T-Bolt.

Today mine has been saying Sarajevo!  Usually it says New York - and I live in Colorado.

I am not going to pay for an app.  I expect...this phone to work even as a "proof of concept".  If it can't get my location correctly for just the clock/weather widge, what else is it failing to geo-locate?

This worked for me. Hold the city-drag down to edit-put in your city.

Press the Menu button, press Edit, and turn off "Current City". Then you will just have the city/cities you added. You can also go to settings and uncheck Enable Current Location, but I don't think you need to.

I would think that the OP has figured that out since the post was started over a year ago.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
