Htc getting the Verizon short stick

Ok first off as for jelly bean on rezound , it's not gonna happen . Look at the PR mess Verizon has head with the rezound . Dirt off deffinetly the best phone on Verizon's network and it has gotten zero push compared to the crappy Motorola garbage. Second we were promised ICS almost 5 months ago THAT never happen . HtC has stated that the rom has been ready now for several weeks but verizon isn't doing squat until Motorola hardware is done . So I expect to be dragged along till end of July knowing the way Verizon is . Finally the rezound is just about discontinued at this point . It's life cycle ends in July . We don't even have ICS yet let alone Verizon caring enough to even bother trying to lease us when that launches . Next on my rant is Verizon passing up the HTC one series . Verizon has its heads so far up Motorola rear that they actually passed up THE premiere phone line from HTC ........ Come on really but they keep putting out more and more Motorola garbage . I aware it seems every week there's another crappy razor ish phone coming out . HTC has recently said that the new buisness model is working on end android devices no more of this cheap low end garbage . They want to focus on high quality , and I think the one series shows that . And yet again as a Verizon customer we get the shaft . Sorry to say but other carriers are looking more and more acceptable

I'm not excusing it, but this is nothing new. Been lime this for 3 years (at least). When I was new to android I had no idea the Eris existed. I actually thoutght the original Motorola Droid was the only android they had.....LOL. I was about to get one when, by complete chance, I saw something about the incredible coming out so I waited and got it. They've always pushed Motorola. Shame too. I really wanted the one series. I'm now considering the s3 and I've never cared for Samsung. With the release of the Inc 4g, I just don't see another HTC coming to Verizon until at least the holidays.

Good Morning Demmo86rt , ok that actually made me laugh reading through you edit . but a couple of comments inregards to your editing . FIRST yes they did promise ICS any Verizon i went into in November that was their BIG push " its gonna be the first android phone with ICS " so in the context of you stating that it was advertised as EARLY 2012 like here " http://www.unwiredview.com/2011/11/07/htc-rezound-amaze-4g-sensation-and-others-confirmed-to-get-and..." yes EARLY to me means some time in the first quarter...............and whats today's date ?? 06-24-2012 hmmm 6 days away from third quarter now ............. that doesn't sound like early to me does it ???? now on the road map scene where you said i got it from left field .............. Verizon has a typical life span of literally KILLING a device and discontinuing it anywhere within 6-9 months before they start discontinuing and pushing it out the door. within a year and its a goner ( even though they try to make you sign  2 year contract and god forbid you have insurance and need to use it.Then you can only get 3-5 refurbished devices in hopes that you get one that works cause they don't HAVE new units anymore) ........... http://www.technobuffalo.com/mobile-devices/phones/leaked-verizon-roadmap-suggests-droid-4-will-sell... .........from here you will see the 5/10/2012 time frame date as their last marker for the 199.99 price tag then it'll be 149.99 for a month and i guarantee with in another 2-3 months its gonna be free and refurbished will be all that's left. .......this link shows the  i mean for Christs sake the NEXUS is being set up for its discontinued trench run as we speak starting at best buy under Verizon http://androidstoress.blogspot.com/2012/06/galaxy-nexus-drops-to-149-at-verizon.html ............ really !?!?!?! and that was THE one Verizon had pumped if im not mistaken aren't they STILL waiting for the updated version of ics too ?? NOW HTC has stated a few times in and even had the page update on their site for version 3.14.605.70 710RD stating that its been ready for several weeks.MY argument is that Verizon continues to look for NEW ways to OVERCHARGE the hell out of us , drag their feet on updates and upgrades figuring " well there's a phone for another 299.00 if you want the same OS " that should have been updated onto my phone already for free.  i have had Verizon since the old school FIRST Motorola Timeport phones. I have had business phones accounts with them and personal phones with them . i have had custom roms on their android phones and used pretty much almost all the android phones they carry . My Opinion is that VERIZON really getting worse year over year . they shouldn't open their mouth about updates and stuff they have NO IDEA about (false advertising) , if they pushing 2 year contracts NEW PHONES should be available for that time frame and UPDATES should be prompt and quick, the amount of money carriers make they should NOT be charging 29.00 upgrade FEE and their family share data plan im not even getting started on that .

If its not obvious yet, Verizon is getting in bed with Motorola Mobility.  Once the sale is final and Google owns it, Verizon wants to be the premier partner much in the same way they got the Nexus last year.

Verizon is only looking at dollar signs and not thinking about the customers they already have.  The Razr and Rezound came out 4 days apart.  If it has been a month or two or three, then I could a see reason why the Razr should have been first out the gate.

I really think that the reason HTC put the change log up is that they are fed up with Verizon's cozying up to Motorola.  By posting the change log they told all of us the update was ready, but Verizon is keeping it from you.

This all being said, there was a really good article on CNET about AT&T and how they have reversed their fortunes when it comes to Android.  It said that during the holiday Season, Verizon landed three of the best smartphones and AT&T was left in the dust.  However, since Christmas, they landed the HTC One X, and there going to be first out the gate with Galaxy S3.

The only thing we have to show for it is Vaporware called the Droid Incredible 4G and pre-order dates for the S3 set for mid July.

If Verizon wants to reclaim their supremacy in Android, there are a few things they can do:

1) If an Android OS update is ready, put it out.  Verizon needs to start thinking about their existing Android customers as much as they see dollar signs in new phone sales  When our contracts come due some us will remember how Verizon bungled these software updates 😞

2) Get rid of this stupid idea to make those of us with grandfathered data plans to pay full price if we want to keep it.  If 5% of the customers have unlimited data... why are we such a threat?

3) Start offering one year contracts again.  Smartphones change like Moore's Law for CPU's on steroids.  I would pay a little more for a phone if I didn't have to wait two years between contracts.  Instead of paying $249 for the Galaxy S3, make it $350 to $400 on a one year contract.  Verizon needs to get creative and quit alienating their customers if they want to stay number one.

4) This is tied to three, but if three is unpalatble, then Verizon could offer special upgrade options like ATT has done with the iPhone.  I have a line that will upgrade in October.  I called Big Red Customer Dis-Service to see if they would be willing to work with a long standing customer to get him to buy the new Galaxy S3.  I was told flat out the upgrade dates are the upgrade dates.  I thought Verizon was in the business to make money.  They could have made $249 off the sale and two more years on that line for an additional $240.  Would it really hurt Verizon to come to us and say, hey you got six months left on this contract.  We will let you upgrade early.

i hear what you're saying, but they allow an upgrade at 20 months. if they started letting us upgrade 6 months prior to that, then you're really talking about a one year contract. it would be nice. but they subsidize $400-500 in many cases, based on getting those fees for at least 20 months...not 14. and as far as a one year contract goes, if it was still going to be $400, then i would just pay the $600-700 in order to remain out of contract. they do need to figure something out though, because you are correct about smartphones. i can't hardly imagine keeping the same one for 2+ years. i'm hoping that, much like pc's, the actual price of them will come down. if the high end devices retailed at around $400, then many of us would likely just buy the devices and forget about contracts (like they do in europe)

Would it really hurt customers to pay full retail for their phones and not rely on assistance when purchasing a device they will use 350+ days a year for the next 2 years

Seems kind of ridiculous that the Rezound came out first was touted as the best of the best and Verizon said they would have ICS as one of the first to recieve it and now only the 2 out of 3 hare getting it. And to be honest I would take the Rezound over the other 2.

Verizon seems to have misplaced their values as to where the money comes from. I take my business to where I am treated like a human being not a $$$$$$$$. You want my money then fix the issues and quit being lazy about it.

And about the $30.00 add on they will not be getting it out of me again. I will hang on to the Rezound tilly my time is up and wait even longer if I have to. Sooner or later the Quads will get most of the bugs ironed out and then I will look elsewhere for someone who will treat me like a custommer should be treated.

Sorry Verizon you have everything I have communication wise where I live and you will be loosing it one year at a time. That rings out of your cash register about $500 a month.  My best  regards to anyone that continues on with them.  And do not make promises that you cannot keep.

The Rezound came out first but didn't sell well. The Razr and Razr Maxx were the best selling Android phones for verizon so they get top priority. Sorry that sound stupid i know but that's verizon for you.

well I came very close to paying full price for my rezound in november, because I knew it would be a mistake to believe anything form verizon about an upgrade. foolish me fell for their crap again. well I won\t upgrage thru them again without some major corporate policy changes. had i been wise enough to purchase my phone elsewhere I wouldn't be locked into them again and they would lose the profits from the sale of a new phone.I would have continued my current plan without renewall and then see what interest they have in retaining me. thats the only way we'll ever get appropriate customer service again.

Carriers do not make money from sales of a new device...  Manufacturers do...  Carriers make money off the plans and services you use.  As long as you have service regardless of device you use they'll make money...

oh they make profits from the sale of new phones in signed contracts. remove the incentive of a new phone and what reason does one have to renew. i could shut off any or all of my accounts anytime I choose, and your attitude of defending their position is negative thinking when it has obviously become apparent that the consumer has to initiate methods that effect their pockets to get the bean counters back into proper perspective.
