I'm new to this forum, so I appologize if this has been asked and answered before (I'd be surprised if it hasn't, bu I don't see a way to search the forum). My question is: How do you add or identify emergency contact numbers on the Thunderbolt?

If you log into Verizon's Backup Assistant, there is a link below Mobile Groups labeled "In Case of Emergency Contacts". If you click the link it will open up a small window that will allow you to select 3 people from your contact list. After you have done this click the Sync to Phone button.

I preface the first name with ICE that way when an Emergency Responder goes to contacts they can go to ICE. There is also a notes field available that can hold some medical information on the contact card.

i "think" you are wanting to set up a group of important contacts? open the "people" app. there are 4 little icons on the bottom. selct the one that looks like 2 business cards. this is "groups." slect "add group." call it whatever (emergency, for example). then add your emency contacts to that "group." you can then either acces the group the same way (through the "people" app) or you can add it as a "favorite" (widget) to one of your 7 homescreens if you want to be able to access the numbers faster. i apologize if i misunderstood your question????

Thanks for your feedback.
However, since I have a security code programmed on my phone, I was looking for a way to save an emergency number that can be dialed without unlocking the phone first (this is a standard feature on most mobile phones) - maybe not on Android devices??

I suggested the idea to HTC with the Incredible. Before you activate a phone, there is an Emergency Call button. But it is gone once a phone is activated.

If it's only available before activation, perhaps Verizon needs to educate it's sales teams that they should ask the customer for any ICE numbers they may have before they activate the phone? Mine was activated before I left the Verizon 'company' store. The person who did the activation didn't ask me.
Thanks for responding to this post...

What I meant was there was a button to make an emergency call even with the phone not activated. It is not an option to add an ICE.
I am still confused as to why on the Backup Assistant in the online account you can mark contacts as an ICE, but the info does not transfer to the phone.

You can not add numbers to the Emergency Dialer. When your phone is locked only calls to 911 can be made. You can not add other ten digit numbers and use them as emergency numbers.
You can create a Group in your contacts and call it Emergency. However, you will not be able to access the Emergency Group if the phone is locked.
Creating a group
From the main HOME screen, tap > People.
On the Groups tab, tap Add group.
Enter a name for the group, and then tap Add contact to group.
Select the contacts you want to add to the group, and then tap Save.
Hope this information was helpful

I have to slide the lock screen down to use. It is not coded to lock. Still as is from dealer. How do you setup a hot button call to 911. Like if you were hurt, and needed to just hold the 1 button on older phones? Thunderbolt htc
