There is no timeline for the update.

I was just scolling through the posts and saw yours. I beg to differ. I have the original Verizon/HTC press release. It said Early 2012. Now everybody's definition of Early 2012 may vary, but my take January to April with Middle 2012 being May to August and Late 2012 being September to December.

So? After watching and getting the number of Android updates for various phones, I will believe a press release that says it is PLANNED for Early 2012 but I don't expect it then. The release might not say PLANNED, but it is a good bet that is what was inferred.

That's why they usually don't give any sort of hard timelines because everyone's definitions are off. The official statement says June-July so no reason to go nuts yet. http://www.htc.com/www/help/android4faq/?cid=android4blog

The information given on HTC website is just HTC hedging their bets. Every website that talks about this list says that HTC says most phones will be updated by June/July with no one later that August. This is their way of saying that when June 30th passes, oh we mean July, oh we mean August. They are covering their butts. Thats all it is. Smoke and Mirrors.

I have to burst your bubble Ann, it did not say planned for Early 2012. The exact wording was available in Early 2012. Just for giggles, I have attached page 3 or the release.

The update schedule is subject to change. No way Verizon or HTC know exactly when that far ahead of time. Heck they probably don't know exactly when it'll be now as that's just the nature of software development. it'd be nice if Verizon kept everyone updated on the progress but they don't. Verizon just can't win either way...release an update early and have people complain about bugs or test a little more and have the same ones complain that there's a conspiracy and verizon is keeping something from them.

Personally, I don't think its a conspiracy. I think they are purposely holding back the update to reel in those that can upgrade now to a more expensive phone such as the Droid Incredible 4G or Galaxy S3. There are several places online that you can get the Rezound for sweetheart deals and if the ICS Update was available, then you could buy a good, cheap phone instead of a $199 to $299 phone that will come with ICS.

I never said it said planned, I meant whatever the press release says I will always think that they mean "planned". Like PJ wrote schedules change. I know of one Fortune 500 company that put out a schedule of planned visits of historical equipment at the beginning of this year. I haven't followed the equipment's journery very closely, but I do know that the schedule has changed at least once in a major way and some minor ways. Press releases containing forward looking statements (System Updates for example) con't always be taken for fact.

I didn't say you said it was planned. I said there November Press Release did not use the word "planned". There release said "available". Available to me means immediate or right away.

It was still a forward looking statement by using "Available Early 2012". It still means that is when they THOUGHT" would be available. It doesn't mean that it would be available then.

I couldn't agree more. There verbage implies a very specific meaning not s broad one. Verizon has no legal leg to stand on.

Its not a lawsuit. Its a complaint to my State AG concerning whether or not Verizon is in violation of our Consumer Protection Laws. I thimk they are, but that will be for the AG to decide.

Verizon Wireless issued a press release stating that the ICS update is coming to both the Rezound and the Thunderbolt. No timeline was included though.
