One of the reasons I purchased this phone was the statement that the ICS 4.0 update would be made available to the phone. Using the most vague of terms, "early 2012" has now technically come and gone and we have no official word on an update. That is 6 months. It is also unreasonable. It appears to indicate little desire on the part of Verizon to do anything about it. No solid, official piece of information has been released that gives any indication of when we can expect the update to be pushed. Tech websites, 3rd party vendors, and customers play the game of "a customer rep said this", "an HTC rep said that", and "a salesperson at a Verizon store said something else". Verizon needs to rectify this transgression and provide answers as well as push an update. Others have said it in lesser civil tones and with good reason. Many Rezound owners are upset, disappointed, and feel lied to; myself included.

you're not going to get the answer you want here.  Go picket out in front of Verizon headquarters.

OK, here we go again.  Just FYI, there is already a thread or two about this, but I'll see if I can explain this process... again.

First off, I am not, never have been, and, unless some amazing opportunity comes up, never will be an employee of Verizon, HTC, or Google, despite accusations to the contrary.  Second, you may want to have a look at this: http://www.htc.com/www/help/android4faq/?cid=android4blog.  Third, update release dates are NEVER set in stone until the day it starts pushing to customer's phones.  And fourth, this thread, if it follows others of it's kind, will quickly degrade to talks of lawsuits, legality, bloatware, and how Apple is so much better at updates (for the record, not true, they don't give a date until it's ready either, and typically, don't even announce it until then).  Oh yeah, and I want the update just as much as anybody else.

Now, the reason the "time frame" was given, as you put it, in the most vague of terms, is because, when that was written, work on the update was only just started, if that.  The phone was released only (if even) a month after Google made the big announcement of ICS, and IIRC, before the source code was even released.  After the source code was made available, HTC had to download it, then start to make it fit with Sense, then make that work with the Rezound specifically.  Once HTC had what they thought was a workable version, they passed that on to Verizon who had to do network testing, then send it back with a bug report.  You can see here: https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c#legal what Motorola says about this process.  This always seems to take longer than anyone expects and, in fact, is kind of how I ended up in this forum while trying to dig up information about an upgrade to the Eris I used to use.

As of now, there have been 3 leaked versions (read: beta test versions), and none of them have been perfect, though the last one looks like they are close.  Aside from this, and the occasional rumor, you will, unfortunately not hear any dates given for the actual rollout.  I'm sure this is not on purpose, as Verizon does not want anybody to get their hopes up with "promised" dates that may, for one reason or another, not be met.

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy your phone how it is, the OTA will be here eventually.

I understand how software is developed and releases are completed. I do work within the IT industry. However, if you are satisfied to put up with the typical corporate antics and roll over, so be it. It does not mean that others need to do the same. Enjoy your complacency.

Nobody's rolling over, and I am not telling anybody else to do so either, I'm just trying to give an idea of how the update process works.  If you are not willing to listen to reason, why even post?  Like everyone else who has ever started one of these threads, you seem to feel as if you are owed something.  Posting on here isn't going to change anything and neither will empty threats.  You need to write letters to Verizon corporate, as well as HTC, and then follow through by discontinuing use of their services and products.  The only way any large corporation will start to change the way things are done is when they have a negative customer flow.

Oh, and I am so satisfied with these "corporate antics" that I AM running ICS on my Rezound.  Cause I just rolled over... and complacently installed it.

Purchase the device for what it is, not for what it may be...nothing is guaranteed...especially with Verizon

I just read online that another leak version of ICS for the Rezound (#4 I believe) was released which hopefully indicates it will be released sooner than later?
