Insurance for Thunderbolts?

Has anyone purchased the optional insurance? I am into day 12 of my eval, and really beginning to think maybe insurance is a good idea, with so many potential issues on the Thunderbolt, and already did have a confirmed Tbolt with bad electronics. I see there is a deductible, and I expect the phone is under warranty for so many months too. Just wondering if worth the extra fees...

if it's defective then they will replace it within the 12 month period. they give you a certified preowned device. i don't get the insurance simply because over the years i believe i've saved $600-700 by not getting it. but i also accept the fact that if i break my devices, then i'm stuck either activiating an old one, or heading over to ebay or craigslist to buy something until my next upgrade.

I kind of think insurance is a waste of money too.. but honestly I always get it.. I like to know if i slip and fall on my phone and break it or it is dropped in water or stolen I don't have to pay full retail and can go back to using the phone I know and love.

If u get the extended warranty for life there isent a deductible. Only deductible if u lose it or break it.

Well I know this is solved but I'll put in my 2 cents. If you're anything like me...insurance is worth it!! Reason...for some reason during the summer my phones are in danger. I constantly have a problem with water!! I own a swimming pool and it has claimed a few phones because either I've been pushed in or have pushed someone in and they took me with them. But the main victim claimer are lakes/ponds. I go fishing very often in the summer and it has claimed some phones due to me leaning over to get a fish and "plop." I guess when you wear swimming trunks and you're not thinking about your phone, you don't always think to take your phone out of your trunks pocket. I also have lost 2 of them i guess because I don't really mess with my phone when around friends and family. So basically if you're like me (always around water or can sometimes misplace your phone) then insurance is a great safety net (better than paying $500 for a new one).

Dont waste your hard earned money. Just be smart, careful and get an Otterbox. Insurance is a scam. Deductible?...Really? No way. Lighthouses rule.

I have had my Thunderbolt for a month and when I got it out of my purse today, the screen is cracked and the phone is doing funny things now. I bought the insurance but it says on the paperwork "You are now covered if your device is lost, stolen, damaged or malfunctions after the manufacturer's warranty period." Does "after the manufacturer's warranty period" mean I can't file a claim before the warranty period is up? And how long is the warranty claim. Thanks for any help.

The 'after the manufacturers warranty is up' part is only related to the phone malfunctioning. Since yours is damaged the insurance will cover it.
