Myself and my wife have HTC Thunderbolts on unlimited data plan and we are constantly losing data connection in San Diego, CA. It has been happening for a little over a week now. It seems to connect to the internet when browsing the web but whenever an app is used that requires internet, 4G disappears and we get nothing. No 3G, 1X, no internet at all. Apps include Google Play, Facebook, Words with Friends, etc.. All the apps are updated, phone software is updated, we've restarted, cleared caches, restored, etc.. It worked fine yesterday all day but today it is back to losing data constantly.
Anybody else having the same issues? I have seen a couple of posts but not very many with the same issue.
A friend at work has a Bionic and hasn't had any issues with 4G and another friend has IPhone and hasn't had any 3G issues. Is the Thunderbolt just end of life cycle? Had a good run with our Tbolts, no problems at all until now . Just preordered the GS3, hopefully that works better next month when it comes out.

Still losing connection a week later here in San Diego. AscoliP, not sure how downloading a comcast app will help with data signal... We don't even have comcast out here not to mention everytime I open Google Play, I lose data connection.

I live in the Bay Area, San Jose to be more specific. I have been having the same problem for the last month. Of course calling Verizon results in the typical responses of reboot, reset to factory, send it in for replacement...yadda yadda yadda.
I was so frustrated yesterday that I threw my phone against the wall, like a Tim Lincecum fast ball. I will say the Thunderbolts are cosmetically solid as it did not break, crack or have any noticeable damage but OS wise is a completely different story. I am considering scrapping smart phones all together, they are almost more trouble than they are worth.
Thanks Verizon and HTC....NOT!!!

Hello Alciii & community,
I can't apologize more for the frustration level you encountered with your phone. I'm glad to hear the phone is ok, but we definitely want your service experience to be stellar!
I'm super surprised to hear that you've been "cycled" through the same troubleshooting steps as there is definitely other options we have available.
For example, we can replace your Sim card and even file a resolution ticket to our local network engineers.
Please advise if you're still experiencing the issues!
Thanks,

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for the reply. Please pardon my frustration but I love the phone so it is extra irritating when it does not work properly. Can you give me some other tips to help with my connection loss? I would say on average once a day my phone loses data connection for sometimes up to a few minutes or I even have to reboot my phone.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
ALCIII

I've been having the exact same issue w/ my Thunderbolt dropping data as well for quite a few months now. It seems to be getting worse lately though. In fact, my phone has dropped data 5 times in the past 30 minutes. Makes having an unlimited data plan seem irrelevant. From reading around other forums, this seems to be a fairly common problem, and a new sim card doesn't seem to solve it. Any one have any success fixing this issue??

fastballatty15,
I am sorry to hear about all of the issues you are experiencing with your Thunderbolt, but I appreciate the info. The next step in the troubleshooting process would be to replace your sim or to preform a master reset http://bit.ly/rlYXKN. If you are interested in conducting any of these troubleshooting steps please let us know, we are happy to help!
Thank you,

Georgep_VZW,
I’ve had the same issue and have already done a sim card replacement and a battery cover replacement and my problem still exists. I’ve post about my issues on the other data drop thread.
Thanks,

Well, after a few months of pretty stable data connectivity, the constant drops have returned w/ a vengance here recently. I don't see how replacing the sim card and doing a master reset would resolve the issue. After researching other posts, and seeing Staudie's reply, replacing the sim card doesn't help. I've also tried resetting the phone, w/ no luck. Makes me think its a software problem (which I thought Thunderbolt was due a new software push a while back), or a network problem. Either way, I'm not getting the service I'm paying for.

Hoping against Hope that you didn't pre-order the SG-3 through verizon - DID YOU? You're just asking for more trouble if you have anything more to do with them. I'm hearing good things more and more about Sprint and T-mobile. Good luck, fastballatty15! I'm quitting vz by this coming Spring - they've become the pitts of all carriers.
