Not receiving text messages & call log shows calls that I didn't make

Happy2bmeagain
I hope someone has an answer for me. I am self employed and my phone is my lifeline as my customers text me when they need to make their appts. I have had 3 different customers tell me they sent me text messages but I have never received them. Also when I pull up my call log it shows that I made a call to my son when in fact no call had been made from my phone for at least 24 hours. Also music player randomly starts playing & the ringer also mysteriously turns itself off. Any suggestions? I thought I would start here before I decided to stop by the Verizon store since it takes so long.

I'm thinking your device is losing its data connection much like a lot of posters to this and about every forum dealing with the thunderbolt. Unless you just got your tb you're stuck hoping the next ota update fixes this. If you just got your tb maybe you can get the local Verizon corporate store to, in writing, offer you another path forward should the now pending ota update fail to resolve data connection and text problems plaguing this device. Otherwise your self employed reliance on an iffy device you now have may negatively impact your livelihood. (Might be prudent to look for and explore an out). As for the mysterious call and music player starts, you might want to assure screen is locked (infamous pocket dialing) and set a screen unlock pattern to prevent inadvertent starting of apps. Sorry I couldn't really help with a concrete solution.

Thanks for the input. Thinking I may swap phones with my son for the time being. The phone has been locked and laying on the table when the other stuff is happening to it. Any idea when the update is coming?

There have been numerous "leaked" versions of the supposed "official" release for weeks now. Those releases can't be what will be Verizon's official ota because there have been too many iteration. Both HTC and Verizon have alluded to an impending official ota update this month ( August). I'm not going to believe its here until my phone notifies me I have a download available. (This device has had far to many delays & push-outs to put stock in anything other than actually being able to download it ). I have decided to give the official ota one week of runtime before I make a decision on, if I can live with the resolutions and possible issues(new ones & old ones revisited because of poorly performed regression testing) or if I take matters into my own and developer hands Smiley Sad

Sorry for the "August" meant September.... Although there were rumors ,unrealized, that august was it. More incentive to believe it only when you have the notification on your phone.

Hi Happy2bmeagain,

I feel your pain; I would be frustrated if my phone did not perform as expected. The issues outlined in your post may be the result of conflicts caused by third party applications. I would recommend running your phone in Safe Mode and see if issues continue. Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is necessary to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue.

Since your profile shows a Motorola Droid as your device and this is a forum for HTC ThunderBolt, I have included 2 links below for directions to run your phone in safe mode please choose the one appropriate for you.

Safe Mode - DROID by MOTOROLA

Safe Mode - Thunderbolt™ by HTC
