Ever since the first update i have had a few problems. First one was the inability to stay in data, which just recently became no data ever. I have the constant reboot problem as well, and i also have the problem where the phone freezes up constantly when trying to send txt or viewing pics in the msg app.
Something else that just started is the problem i have seen most having now with the updating. If i check for new up date it now longer says no update available of error, the box just disappears. I have not been able to get the new update because of this. The phone was awesome till the first update now it just plain sucks.
Any ideas?

supposedly they are pushing this out in batches and MANY of us have not recieved the update. if you really want (and i would if my phone was as messed up as what you describe), you can find the official update leaked on the internet. you will have to do a factory reset to manually install it.....but if you want the update now, you can get it. look a bit further down in this forum. someone posted a link to the leaked update friday.

Another thread going about the problem with the software update function where you get the checking for update window, then it just goes away and leaves a blank screen. No answers yet, just guesses and questions, but I've come to believe that it has something to do with the update process. A lot of us started having the same problem at the same time, so the idea that all of our phones malfunctioned at once would be highly unlikely. I think that in a few days, an Android icon is going to appear in my status bar to let me know the update has been pushed to my phone and hopefully I will be able to download it. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part.
The leaked update that AZSALUKI referred to will download the leaked update to your phone, but it will do a factory reset and wipe all of your data. If wiping your data isn't a big deal to you and I was having your problems, I'd be very tempted to do it.
On the other hand, since you've waited this long, if you can wait a few more days, you may get the update pushed to you that won't wipe your data.
Just my opinion and I've been wrong before.

Don't take this wrong Wolf because I'm not saying I don't believe you, but at this point I'm pretty skeptical of everything I hear and I'll believe it when it's installed on my phone.

I am curious to know whether or not you received the update yet.
Once you receive the update, it should resolve the concerns you are having.

Since receiving the latest update I've experienced my phone dropping to 3G (I'm in full 4 G coverage not anywhere near fringe). When it drops back the 3G icon is a lot larger than the 4G one and my roadrunner pop3 account stops receiving mail. ( I know this because mg wife's iPhone is getting mail I usually got 5-10 min before hers). So as far as my experience I give it a thumbs down. It does seem Verizon gets their bloatware on ok, haven't heard complaints about it not functioning, and if it was it is probably getting top priority.
Honestly, there are probably no complaints because no one uses them.

I can understand your frustrations with the 4G signal on your HTC Thunderbolt! I would like to have you check a couple of things for me.
Ensure that "LTE/CDMA" is selected in "Mobile Networks" settings. I would also ensure that "Wi-Fi" is not checked in the Wireless & networks settings. As a last basic troubleshooting step I would perform a "Restart" of the device. This would be performed by pressing & holding the Power button at top of the phone until you get "Power options", then select "Restart". The phone will shut itself off, then turn itself back on. Give it up to 10 minutes to retrieve a consistent 4G signal.
If you still have 4G signal issues following these steps, please let me know so I can further troubleshoot.

Hello RobB772,
From the sound of it you were not experiencing the dropping to 3G as often prior to the update correct? If that is the case I can understand the disappointment when your expectations are set high. If this issue has not already been resolve I would suggest completely resetting your device to begin with a fresh start. The reset can be done by navigating to Settings>SD & Phone Storage>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>Erase Everything. After the device reactivates please observe and let me know if this was helpful and if not we can move forward form there. Thank you.

RobB772, I understand your frustration over having to do a factory reset. It does take time to get the phone all set up again. After basic troubleshooting is completed (pulling the battery, pulling the SIM, making sure the phone is set to 4G, in a good coverage area) we normally suggest a factory reset as the next step because it does resolve a lot of issues. We can submit a product issue to HTC and our network team, we need to show extensive troubleshooting has been done to eliminate any outside factors like corrupt data or applications causing the issue. Especially since this issue is not occurring on every Thunderbolt, we need to determine if there is a common factor.
This issue has been escalated to our product team and we are still investigating the issue and working on a resolution.

I honestly appreciate that on this forum Verizon employees actually seem to read some of the posts and reply with suggestions. You don't see that happen often. I guarantee you it never happens on the HTC forum. My only problem is that almost all of the suggestions start with doing a factory reset and after doing two and having to spend a bout half a day each time getting my phone back the way I had it and liked it originally, it didn't fix any of my problems. After doing the factory reset and rebuilding your phone 2-3 times, you not only just kind of lose faith that it's going to help, but you really get tired of spending the time to re-do all of your phone and app settings.
I don't mean to sound negative, it's just that my experience with factory resets has been unproductive, very time consuming and I have no intention of doing it again unless you can prove to me that it is going to fix the problem. I know some of the problems may be difficult for you to reproduce, but there are several ongoing threads about people having problems losing their data connections on many different forums and from many different areas of the country and almost all of them started after the latest update, so it isn't just a few isolated instances from the same location. Several of them have already tried doing factory resets with no improvement in their data connections.
Sorry, I don't mean to complain because I really do appreciate the responses from Verizon employees and my Thunderbolt is the best phone I've ever owned and this is the only problem I've had. I just wish there was a better starting solution than doing a time consuming factory reset just to see if it works.
Edit: Rob, I didn't see your post till after I had responded, but it appears we have similar feelings. I also deleted LTE onOff, but reinstalled it because that's the only way I can force my TBolt into 4G. The network switch that Verizon supplied in this last update doesn't give you that option and needs to be improved.
