Sending MMS messages

I took a few pics with my Thunderbolt and saved them to the phone.   Now I want to send them to people via text message but every time I attach the photos, add the recipients, and type a message it acts like it wants to send but doesn't. Instead of sending I"ll get an icon in the upper right corner of the message of which loks like a text message bubble with a clock in it.  What does this icon mean?  Does it mean the message was sent?

Can you pull down the notification window and see what description is?

My guess is that there was a delay or error of some kind.

You are correct, it was just a delay. I checked with my friends and they said they got it, albiet a little while later but it did send the pictures.
