I've heard from Verizon that the ICS update is suppose to be release at the end of July or in August. Has anyone seen it already? I'm wanting to know if it is going be better than the current OS.
No it hasn't been released yet. There have been no rumor or leaks. Verizon just released the Rezound ICS update a few days ago. Following that pattern, I would guess that Thunderbolt would be likely to be released at the end of the August or early September. No one will know for sure that is happening until user start to receive on their devices and the Support page is update to reflect the Changelog for the ICS update.
Don't get your hopes up. device prob too old for it.
just an idea, the rezound has had ics since around april, there is no alpha leak at this time for the thunderbolt
if there is no ALPHA leak, there is no way there will ever be an OTA ics
When I spoke with HTC, they said that they sent Verizon the files to update the phone in June. If Verizon decides to can the update, I'm going to end up leaving ASAP.
We are talking about thunderbolt here not the rezound
Yes I realize that. Call HTC and ask them yourself. I've even talked to Verizon and they said that they have received the update from HTC and they are in the midst of getting all of their "bloatware" installed on it and testing it before releasing it.
That was one nice thing about ICS on my Rezound. The bloatware is still there, but ICS gave me the choice to Disable it. It probably didn't make any difference since I never used any of those apps anyway, but it made me feel better.

i hope it's accurate, but i'm not holding my breath since it hasn't even been leaked yet. if we get it, i'll bet it will be at least september.

That's what I figure when the update will happen. If it hasn't shown up yet by October then the chances diminish significantly in my book.
I seen something posted on Droid Life about the Thunderbolt getting the ICS update by the end of August. Check out the story on the link below:

I just saw on one of the Android sites that there is an ICS leak for the Thunderbolt floating around. I think this is the first leak that I have heard about. I'm trying hard to not get too excited.
HTC announced that ICS would be released by 8/31/12 on Thunderbolt, but when date came, they said they realized they missed the deadline, but are working with Verizon and will let customers know as soon as they have any news. That was a month back. Since that time all we get is SOS.
Nov.3 and still no thunderbolt ics update wow way to drop the ball verizon and htc
HTC delayed it. I'm not too worried about it.
at this point, i'm guessing we'll never see it :smileysad:

since i will likely have something new in the next few months, i'm not terribly upset about not actually getting it on the bolt. what is upsetting though, is that you can buy a device and within months an updated version of the OS comes out, and your device NEVER receives it. i don't know when ICS came out, but i thought it was in the fall of 2011. the tbolt was only 6 months old then, i really think it's a shame that you can get something that is essentially unsupported in less than a year. and it's not like the bolt was a low end device or one of the bargain androids. it REALLY makes me consider a non smart phone+tablet. i know i'll never go back to a basic phone, but it's tough to shell out $200-300 and sign up for another 2 years when there's a good chance that what you just bought won't be kept up to date. i feel like if the subsidy requires a 2 year commitment from the consumer, than the device should require a 2 year commitment from the manufacturer and carrier. just me 2 cents.
It's okay, I'm under contract until March, in which I CANNOT wait to switch carriers! Verizon has some of the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. You CANNOT get a straight answer from them, they never provide you any USEFUL data and I've seen it time and time again regarding promised updates. They translate into broken dreams! If this lies on HTC's end (or any phone carrier for that matter), it should also be your responsibility to keep your customers in the know. Put it in your specifications that you REQUIRE a manufacturer to provide you with this data as it's an essential part to customer service! All you have to do is simply relay this to us, and hound them/fine them if they're delinquent in reporting! We were promised ICS how long ago? WHERE IS IT? M T-Bolt is so unstable since the last release "update" that I am counting down the days I can switch! You've lost me as a customer, but this could serve a lesson for other disgruntled customers also considering splitting!
Verizon's most critical mistake was removing unlimited data from their plans. I'm not going to buy a $700 phone so that I can keep my existing plan. That's ridiculous! Sure, your 4G is fast, but it's not worth the loss of unlimited data and extra money I'd have to fork out! Sprint = unlimited data, slower, but still far superior 4G speeds compared to 3G, cheaper prices, pretty good service, excellent customer service.
VZW = Fail. Get T-Bolt users their updates already! I want to throw my phone in a lake! I'll also never buy an HTC device ever again! Please feel free to let them know this as well!
With all due respect,
TjB
... all of us that paid several hundred dollars for our wonderful smartphones - should send their non-functional phones to the corporate headquarters addressed to the CEO and marked PRIORITY.. anything to disrupt their lives like they've stolen our money and disrupted ours. Slide to the bottom of the pile of carriers VZ - you deserve it.
Read fast, people... this will be gone in a few minutes!
Sharon, I'm sorry you're upset, here's a few things to think about:
1. If your phone is non-functional, it needs to be fixed. My Thunderbolt works perfectly and when it didn't (WiFi stopped working) I got it replaced. It was still under warranty at that time. If your phone isn't in warranty and is non-functional there are plenty of places that can repair it and you need to do that because:
2. A software update won't fix anything, your phone is like your PC, if it's got a problem an upgrade won't fix it and might make it worse. Also:
3. You may be VERY disappointed with ICS, several folks in other forums with phones that have been upgraded to ICS have complained it's almost the same as before the upgrade and it is. That's because the ICS upgrade uses Sense 3.6 and it's pretty much like Sense 3.0 which you have with Gingerbread. Sense 4.x is the BIG change and it probably won't come with the ICS update.
For me, the T'bolt is a great phone, like everyone else I'm very eager to see the ICS upgrade because it's so overdue but meanwhile, my phone works to perfection and does everything I could want it to do (except wash the dishes and the dog does most of that for me! <G>)
xs11e -- I don't even have the Sense 3.0 Gingerbread on my Tbolt. I have android version 2.3.4, and software number 2.11.605.19 710RD, HTC Sense vers. is 2.1. I do have the last update rolled out in May 2012. It never helped with any of the shutdown problems it was having prior to that update. I had BOUGHT a BRAND NEW Tbolt for a week before the problems began. They switched sim cards, factory reset, tried all the techs knew to do with no luck. They gave me another "new Tbold" which I later found out was a refurb. So I no longer had a NEW phone for all I paid for it and still had/have all the same problems, but they are progressivly worse now. I still have until March 2013 to deal with this one and I have a feeling the problems will be so much worse it will be unusable by then. I LOVED THIS PHONE, despite the little gliches it was giving me - I could handle it. But its so much worse now, I will end up not having a phone to use before March get here. You've read all the stories - VZ doesn't want to deal wtih this at all - they are and have always been aware of the real problems. Whatever. I've shopped at several other carriers tonight and have found one that I think will do, its just getting out of the termination fees thats going to be next to impossible! I am SO fed up with VZ and so very disappointed how they've changed just in the past few years. Not the great company I stayed with all these
years. But THANKS for your suggestions and patience, I will keep them in mind!
not having ics= non functional????? rofl
With all due respe
These is one of my big del to that i can't get unlimited data that sucks
What problems are you having that you can't get an answer to.
If you are calling Verizon about HTC product running Google software, i can see why you got a headache.
Plenty of carriers have older cell phones (thunderbolt is 2 years old, first generation LTE device) that don't have software updates. What do you think GB will even do for your phone? These software verisons had very little to functionality..
You were promised ICS, no.. HTC announced they were working on on it for the thunderbolt, but no date was ever set.
If your t-bolt is unstable it isn't software, millions of people had the thunderbolt with no problems. Try doing a factory reset, wiping out some data or delting some apps and re testing.you sound like you dont know shit about phones, which is clear by the fact you are so upset over an update that at the core won't fix your issues
Verizon makes more money by removing unlimited data, and it hasn't cost them any customers.. please tell me how it was their greatest mistake.. The industry followed, apparently they are making mistakes too?
While in theory I agree with commonsense101, I have to differ in one respect. I understand that customer service and manufacturer support are no longer priorities for companies, one would think that if you buy a product in good faith from a company that touts itself as consumer friendly then the expectation of ensuring that your device is regularly updated to improve customer experience. If the companies have no desire to update phones, then as you say, then customer beware. I believe it is just poor business and therefore, will have to be more careful when asking questions about support in the future. I would say, that as this is my first "smart" phone, overall I am satisfied with performance. I am upset because what happens when apps no longer run on the older system( check Time Warner app) and my contract is still in effect. When the time comes, I am sure that Verizon and HTC will ask why I am no longer interested in their product and I will be happy to point to their forums and their vague responses.
I spoke to Verizon yesterday due to ANOTHER issue with my TB. While talking to the representative she stated that TB will NOT be getting anymore updates. I asked specifically about ICS and she said no. They have retired that model and there will be no more updates. Finally moving on past my TB and moving to HTC Incredible 3G hoping for a better experience. Heres hoping.
Your representative is somewhat misinformed. The possibility of release is still very much in limbo, AND has not been cancelled. I spoke with an HTC rep this morning (1/29/2013) and here's what they said:
"Dear -----,
Thank you for the reply.
When the develop team starts working on any ROM update, they always look to enhance the device experience for all our users around the world. Working with software is difficult due to the number of changes that may happen since a project starts until it is completed. HTC no longer announces dates for release of software due to the nature of the software development process. At any point in the software development cycle a situation may be encountered that requires anything from some minor additional rework, to complete rewrites of the software base. Only after the final acceptance testing has been successfully completed will HTC release software. The normal time period between the final acceptance testing and release of software is about a week and often shorter than that.
We can ensure we are working on this update, but we can not ensure the time when it will be released or if it will be. -----, we understand your point of view regarding the delay on this process and we deeply apologize for that, but at this moment we do not know if the completion of this update will be released. That is a decision taken by the HTC Develop Team within the HTC Leaderships.
Have a nice day!

6 months after they were supposed to release and they claim that they are still working on it? i'm going to go out on a limb and say it aint happening.

Contacted HTC regarding the update and received the following:
Thank you so much for contacting HTC customer support center in regards to software updates for your HTC Thunderbolt.
James, let me say that I really understand where you coming from with this. Your HTC Thunderbolt is upgradable to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich; and let me assure you that we are excited about this update for our Android devices. We are currently reviewing its features and functionality to determine upgrade plans for our product portfolio. While our goal is to bring the latest software updates to as many of our recent devices as possible, we are committed to maintaining every phone's performance and usability first. Keep in mind that the release of this upgrade is under carrier discretion.
Your carrier will release it as soon as they complete the customizing process of the operative system for them to make sure that all phones are going to work with their network specifications and services.

The postings on http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/31/verizon-finally-approves-ice-cream-sandwich-for-the-htc-thunderbolt/ or http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/system_update/thunderbolt_instructions.pdf have a description of how to get the update. However, when I use the conventional route of asking the phone to check for update, I am told there isn't one available. Is there any way to get "bumped up" the list to get the update ASAP, instead of waiting for the "push"?
I am so happy. I hope this fixes my data connection issues.
Well I called Verizon and they confirmed That ICS is out but they are saying it will be released in waves. Come on like there are really that many Thunderbolts left out there they need to release it in waves. and it can take 24 hrs up to 3 weeks to get it on my phone.
Heck it is the same for the Incredible.... How many of them are there? I like the new phone i saw from HTC!
I agree man. On top of the unlimited scam, you have to pay extra to turn your phone into a hotspot. That's complete BS? The only way to get hotspot and not pay extra is switch to a family shared plan. More BS!
It's pretty crazy we have waited this long, but at the same time I am happy that TBolt users are getting ICS finally. We can't say that about the Droid Charge users. While I think it has created a very bad image towards HTC from a customer support aspect, I still applaud them at eventually following through and delivering. If only the update would just go live already. I've been checking about 3-4 times a day since announcement and there cannot be that many of us who are still using the device. Release it to the masses already!
check for it....its available now
Check for it. Mine is updating now.
Me too.
Sent from my iPad
After looking for it constantly for days, here it comes when I'm not watching !
please let us know what the battery life is like after a couple of days. mine isn't activated, but if the battery life doesn't take a hit, i'd like to update it (the old leak was horrid on the battery life).
I am receiving the update for ICS. I'm receiving it and im in North Carolina. I am glad I held out this long..time to buy a new battery to prolong its life :smileyhappy:
I am in Charlotte... update is taking a while to download as I have a crappy signal in the building where I work (actaully, the AT&T building!!! LOL)
mine updated in less than 20 mins..its installing now..with the OTA and loading symbol...taking over 10 mins now just to do the flash. Almost there :smileyhappy:
Ok update is done.. I'm checking it up ..first impressions.. Its a lot slower.. but this could be because it hasnt adapted to my settings.. It looks like all my settings ..wallpaper.. apps are still like they were prior!
give it some time, it may be updateing all the apps, mine did.
aslo give it a battery pull just to shake things up :smileyhappy:
Not sure about you folks, but my phone is running a lot s...l...o...w...e...r...and it's been 4 hours since I updated. It certainly can't take THAT long to adapt to my settings. I also seem to have lost a lot of game icons from one of the folders I created. No big deal to recreate this, but still...
I will say...I like the way the interface looks...
I've given mine 5 hours, restarts, and a battery pull and it is still very slow.
mines much faster
do a battery pull and sim card pull
put it all back in and restart
Forgot to add to my post, my phone in general is quicker
While I am able to report a successful and thankfully uneventful upgrade to ICS, I do see a change in the phone's speed in terms of opening applications and changing screens. The phone is slower.
On the other hand, the user interface is well designed and so far I have no issues with it. I assume that if I eventually upgrade to a phone with a more robust chip set that the performance issues will go away. I'm eligible in another month so I will explore options then or simply keep this phone. The benefits of the upgrade will have to outweigh the hassle of re-installing all my Apps and links.
I'm open to recommendations,e.g, is the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD a good choice?
I had to download the ICS update at work on their wifi due to data connection issues in my apartment. It took a total of about 30 minutes, but so far everything seems to be running quite well and my data connection at home seems better, so far. Will update if that changes. I haven't had a chance to judge battery life yet, but if I notice a difference it sure would be nice.
One thing I have noticed. Is when I power cycle the device I phone resets to 3G and i have to change the setting back to 4G.
What I love about the update.
screenshots from the device.
the custom bar at the bottom
the settings arrangement changes
the voice in google navigation has improved
the signal bar symbol changed from 4 to 5
I can install Chrome for Android
What I don't like so far is the button placement to create the screenshots.
Has anyone had success updating without a verizon contract? I use mine as a media player off the cell network.
thanks.
I tried to attempt to get the update without a SIM card in my Tbolt. It wouldn't even start to check for an update.
I haven't heard an odd notification. Although it doesn't help that it is currently silent for the work day.
I got my ICS update about 4 days ago. It looks very nice, but my TB is lagging quite a bit. It is impossible to play any games on it and all in all, it is just pretty slow. Anyone else having this problem?
I've had my Thunderbolt for almost 2 years in May, have reviewed the forums but this is my first time to actually comment anything worthwhile. 48 hours after the upgrade, and my notes:
Either I have to do something to improve the battery use on this thing or find an acceptable replacement battery at minimal cost.
Or, in 3 months, go to the Samsung Galaxy S4 when my contract is up this spring.
Thoughts?
nobody is really going to want to hear this, but if you want the best performance after the update, i would suggest a factory reset. i do this with any major update and it really does seem to improve things. i know......what a hassle. but really, if you spend an hour doing this (probably less to redownload all apps and set your homescreens and accounts back up) it may fix some of the issues that some of you are having. anything on your sd card should be safe and if you have saved docs or pics on the internal memory then you will need to back them up or transfer them to a pc. yes, you will lose your level in angry birds, etc.....but i have found that a factory reset is a nice way to clean up a nearly 2 year old device and work out some lags and battery issues. when you do this you can go to the play store and select menu and your apps and all of your old apps will be there to download. you will also have to set up email accounts, etc......but it's really not that time consuming and it's worth a shot if you are experiencing problems.
budone wrote:Since the update, I have a new. Notification sound going off, but I do not know what it is for. Goes off 4 times. But there are not any new mail or texts and those items still have their normal tone... Perplexed.
budone wrote:
just randomly? or on reboot? does it actually go off 4 times in a row, or is the sound possibly 4 beeps or something?
Do you have a link for instructions on the factory reset?
In two years of ownership, I haven't had the need to try that.
What other risks are involved?
I will probably end up doing a factory reset jus to clear up the system in the next week or two. I'm not seeing any bugs yet that drive me batty, but I do make it a practice of resetting the phone after a major update.
rjstjohn1 wrote:Do you have a link for instructions on the factory reset? What other risks are involved?

You'll want to back up all your data before doing a factory reset, 'cause it'll be removed. Your SD card should be ok, but I always remove mine to be on the safe side.
Hard Reset - Thunderbolt™ by HTC
I have also just downloaded the ICS update it seems fine to me but I cannot find where the recent app button is. Mine still has the all apps button on the bottom. Am I the only one or am I missing something.
i forget exactly how to do it, but i believe you long press either the home or menu button/icon (on the phone itself...not the screen).
I'm considering the factory reset, too. The lag is terrible and the battery life is worse --- and I'm even using the Rezound battery! I almost hate to say that my phone was working better before the update...ulp! I do love the look of the update, but think a clean slate may just do the trick.
rjstjohn1 wrote:Do you have a link for instructions on the factory reset? In two years of ownership, I haven't had the need to try that. What other risks are involved?
tikibar1 posted a link. there shouldn't be any other risks. you will just lose everything on the internal memory so make sure you transfer whatever you want/need to a pc or the sd card. it reverts back to like the day you bought it, but with the newer version of android on it. if you want to be real safe, you can always remove the sd card (it shouldn't be affected, but i know i lost some videos once when i did this, and i'm 99%sure they were on the sd card).
It long press the home button to get to the recent apps.
Is anyone else having an issue with texting? I cannot open messages at all, it just says Please Wait and tries to load, but will not do anything. My update just installed this morning.
I've had the ICS update for about a week. I was very excited to get it and was extremely glad verizon and htc put it out, but my phone has severe lag ever since the update. I did a factory reset this morning and nothing has improved. I am not sure what to do now. I waited for the update for what seems a year and after less than a week, I wish I could remove it and go back. As frustrating as my phone has been at times, it was always useable and I enjoyed it. That's why I still have my TB. Now its barely usable.
I wish someone from Verizon would explain to me what I am supposed to do now.
dang!
I tried posting new threads twice and looks like they are getting deleted, so I will try replying here.
I just got ICS pushed OTA to my Thunderbolt last night.
It was forced, I had no warning and no way to opt out
just woke up and ICS is on the phone
I want Gingerbread back
How can get get my phone downgraded back to GB?
Maybe they are getting reported to the mods. Posting duplicates, discussing phone modifications, including your personal information are some of the possible reasons why a post was reported. Wait for the mods to review them and see if they get returned.
Anyone else experiencing dropped calls since the ICS install? In the two days since the upgrade, I've had three of five calls drop. And as soon as the call drops, the phone is dead - screen is black and phone is off. A full reboot is required.
The update to ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) for Android 4.0 became available as of 02/06/2013. My major complaint is that it takes 16-18 seconds for the home page to open/load after changing between applications. Any work arounds?
I have had the update for 3 days now. I am still not happy with it. One of my coworkers has had no problems with it at all. On the other hand, I have had nothing but problems. At first I thought my most used apps were just not compatible, but even the phone's text message program is super laggy. Today my cousin asked me why I was eating sushi at 4 in the morning. Turns out the pic of my sushi dinner arrived 8 hours after it was sent. I will be doing the factory reset after work tonight, I hope it helps.
Just had my Thunderbolt get upgraded last night without my permission to ICS. Not happy at all. I wish, like others, that I could go back to gingerbread OS.... much better in my opinion. AND this is not a question of "oh the users will get used to it" but rather some really bad choices have been made by the development and marketing dept (insert high 5 miss here).
If the Moderators of this forum are listening.... please request a solution to the ICS issues as stated above.
Many of the base features and apps have been alledgedly "improved"... but rather have taken a turn for the worse. For example, in Touch Calendar.... why are the days of the week at the bottom and not top? Every calendar known to mankind has the days of the week on top...you thought you could improve on this by placing them at the bottom? How does one turn off the annoying phantom tool bar at the top fo Touch Calendar? Why did the confirmation windows switch the position of the Cancel/delete buttons? What was wrong with simple down swipe to open up home page... why must I swipe up or move icons into a circle? Why the change in format of Text Messaging with bubbles rather than the original simple text lists with photo icons?....Is this really an improvement????? I won't even get into the camera app...again... change for the sake of change.
Verizon needs to learn that upgrading per their focus groups isn't always a good thing. Sometimes things do not need to be upgraded for the sake of keeping up with competition. If you have something that works... stick with it. Or at least give the option of retaining features that the user desires.
Here is a prime example of taking an excellent product and improving it into a crappy product. Way to go! (insert sarcasim here)
I too had mine upgraded at 3:00 AM EST. I have been waiting for months for this upgrade. However, I cannot get any text messages - the app just hangs... I tried restarting the phone, shutting down the phone completely, clearing the application cache, etc.
Any ideas other than throwing the phone out the window to land safely 8 stories below??
Text messaging appears to be slow in initializing also. Finally got it to load after a reboot and several attempts to access messages. Finally just let it sit for 5 to 10 min... messages finally appeared and it seems to have remembered all the messages.
I have not see the "alarm: issue reported in earlier posts. Timers, clocks, stop watches appear to be functioning correctly.
Apps appear to have changed to accomodate the new format (I assume). Overall there are pluses and minuses,... but the minuses outweigh the improvements. Too bad.
Too early to comment about battery life.
just spoke to verizon. Of course, there was no easy solution to the lagging except to try a factory reset. I told him I had already done that. The only recourse was to wait for HTC to fix it and release a newer update over the next week. At least he was confident they would fix it.
DONT DOWNLOAD ICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its even buggier than gingerbread was. Can barely make calls, i dial, it will connect FIFTEEN MINUTES later!! I keep kicking myself for not sticking with gingerbread. Figured ICS works great on tablet, this would be same, shoulda known better. These are the same people that sent update that caused resets.
Also, with ICS u have LESS memory now. Right now i have about 560 or so max. Before i had 7 hundred and something memory. When i installed ICS, the phone was so slow it barely worked at first. I had to uninstall almost 500mb of apps before it would work. And Go launcher barely works with 500mb of memory.
I think its a plot to force Thunderbolt owners to upgrade and get off unlimited data, how else could 5 months of "testing" result in a phone this buggy.
Its like Apple and Motorola have moles working for HTC to ensure my next phone is not from HTC (congrats guys, your diabolical plan worked) I'll never trust an update from verizon again, guess ill get an iphone, and use my tablet for my android needs.
Sorry had to get that off my chest, bottom line, ICS on the Thunderbolt is a little prettier, but not worth the upgrade!!!!!
If everyone is not having a lag issue, how can VZW or HTC fix it?
Downloaded ICS today.apparently a big mistake. sms not working at all. I can send sms and see new sms on the opening screen but it WILL NOT open any sms. How can I get back to the previous version operating system?
I've seen other posts saying that Verizon is aware but has no solution; yet they're confident it will be fixed by HTC soon. I'll believe that when I see it. I've personally contacted HTC but have yet to receive a reply of any meaning. *fingers crossed*
No way to go back...and factory re-set doesn't seem to help. I'm having all the same problems. Hopefully there's a fix soon. I don't know know anyone who doesn't use their text feature besides the fact that it is beyond annoying that the phone won't function like it's intended to. Hard to believe it took this long to develop an update that makes the phone worse...and our provider pushed for its release.
I must report that I have not had most of the problems that people are haveing with the ICS update. Once updated the phone was sluggish for and hour or so but it seems to have "settled in". Applications that were sluggish on first run were quicker on subsequent openings. I went and opened every application that I use regularly and waited for it to fully initialize. After that the phone runs pretty good. The SMS app took especially long to open the first time. I suppose because I have an extremely large amount of texts that I have never erased. Once again, after this initial sluggish opening, subsequent openings were normal. Battery life under average use has been 12 hours, two days in a row.
I also went into the Play Store and let the phone update ALL apps.
I will say one thing...my wife's TBolt is unbelievably fast after the update. Though, she doesn't have as many apps on her phone as I do. Still, her phone is working like a charm while mine just slowly chugs along...
I moved all of my apps to my SD card to see if that helped...nope!
Follow-Up - After moving all of my apps to the SD card and then restarting the phone (not a factory reset), things are now moving along quite nicely...surprise, surprise! If thing remain as they are right now, I will be happy.
My phone has been rendered useless by this update. Everything goes so slow as to be unusable. Phone, Internet, photo gallery, etc. etc. Websites that used to load in a few seconds now take half a minute, until in frustration I touch something and then it chokes totally. Battery ran down to totally dead in just a few hours sitting unused on the couch. Flash is gone. Verizon!!!! are you reading this???? Do you value your customers??? Do something!!!! Quickly!!!!!
I wondered that, as well....are they doing this so we will be forced to upgrade?
at least yours worked my froze and keeps freezing even after reset by pulling battery lol
Yeah, it had updated over night on Thursday night, and what an amazing little surprise I got. Does anyone know about the messages thing?
yeah they do, i contacted them and they even said alot of people are having the same problem, but basically they said no warrantee , they cant do shit, for their own mistake
Why would VZW choose you to say hey, we will show them, lets screw up their device, they will upgrade? There are many who have posted their device works great. Mine included. And remember, most who do not have issues will not post that all is well.
It can be an app that ICS does not play well with. I suggest to all with issues to place your device in SAFE MODE, if it improves, there is an app issue
My TB was lagging to the point of being useless with the update. Every app took forever to load. Text app was acting up terribly, not sending, sending 5 of the same texts, duplicating received texts. I deleted Handsent and then deleted about 7000 texts and I don't have a sigle complaint in fact I have never seen the TB so fast and responsive. I've had the phone almost two years. Not sure if handsent was the culprit. It was probably just the excessive texts.

I went to the android store and picked up a different txt msg app. Go SMS
Pro is the one I downloaded. Works fine and it was free. Can't count on
Verizon, HTC or Android to fix the issue.
Great observation. I deleted handcent and all my lag problems went away...funny how that one app seemed to cause my problems. No further complaints from me on ICS update.
