Thunderbolt won't receive SMS msgs....

My thunderbolt is able to send SMS msgs, receive e-mails and notifications for apps, but won't receive any txt msgs. I've already tried another messaging app (GoSMS) and double checking the settings.

Any clue on why it won't receive messages?!?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello miraclewhp80,

Sorry to hear about your SMS issue. I would like to review your account to confirm that it isn't a provisioning issue. I will send you a private message to get additional info from you.

Thank you...

I am having this issue as well (and it is well past the time frame I have seen others say it was supposed to be fixed). My thunderbolt seems to be completely fine all day for quite a while, and then it still seems okay, but I'm not receiving any texts even though I have sent out several. When I finally realize the problem hours and hours later, a) I don't know what messages people have sent me because even when I restart my phone, the messages aren't saved and just send to my phone on demand and b) I have a lot of angry people trying to reach me. This is extremely frustrating! It's not like it happens all the time, but when it does, I just want to flush my phone. I want a new phone. I have had so many issues with the Thunderbolt, that I'm completely fed up. I've had it replaced about 6 times. Another problem I am having, I bought the rechargeable pad and back for the Thunderbolt, and it like, killed my battery. Now my phone is never fully charged and dies within a couple hours. This is all very inconvenient.

I have had about 6 replacement phones and have had 1 replacement battery. I'm sick and tired of this, and just want a working and reliable phone. If these things don't get better quickly, I am afraid my family and I (VZW customers since I could own a phone YEARS ago) will be switching to a different service provider once our contracts are up.

Hi courtneyduude, I apologize for the issues you have mentioned in this posting! I like to address your device concerns! Are you using a 3rd party app to try and receive your messages? Use this link to put the device in safe mode http://tinyurl.com/9x5klhy. Then send a test message to someone asking them to reply back. If a reply message is received, please check for the 3rd party app on your device to remove it. You can post the back the results of trying this option. In you wanting a new phone, are you eligible to upgrade? You can check and upgrade online http://bit.ly/xB4iTc. You would be able to use your charging pad and a new device comes with a new battery. Lastly, I ask you to stay with us as we work with you to resolve the issues.

Thanks,

I am having the same issue on my thunderbolt. It seems to have started Friday, and is continuing today.

Hi Steph01924!  Sorry you’re having the problem too!  Are you using any other 3rd party messaging applications?  Have you tried deleting some of your messages to ensure the inbox isn’t getting full?  Let me know so I can further assist.  Thanks!

I am also having a problem with my Thunderbolt receiving texts. I have talked to technical support multiple times. i have reset, i have done many things tech support suggests and even had my phone replaced with a refurbished phone. i have tried multiple text apps to include handscent, sms, etc. all the same issue.

I have narrowed it down to the fact that my phone does not receive complete texts from anyone with ATT iPhone. Yes Tech support has tried to blame this on ATT however my daughters both have Verizon iPhones and My husband has ATT Blackberry...we can all be sent the same text...they will get the complete text, I will get the beginning...Not the end...

It doesn't break up into multiple texts or even go out of order. I just don't get them.

If you could help fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have the same issue.  Spoke to customer service, to technical support, to a Tier 2 personnel with no positive result.  Only solution I was given, was to have my phone looked at in person at a Verizon store; which makes zero sense at all.  2 days ago, my phone worked completely fine.  I have not downloaded anything new, deleted anything new, phone has not been dropped, damaged by water, nothing.  I do not understand, and seemingly so, the 'technical support' person did not know either after 45 minutes of testing things.  Any other help would be much appreciated.

I have had the same exact issue as JoleenPAC has, for quite some time now. My phone has been replaced, my SIM card was replaced, I've tried several different texting apps as well and still no resolution.

On top of that, the refurbished phone that was just sent to me has issues with its WiFi as well. Constantly disconnecting from networks. I did a factory reset of the phone and both problems still persist.

I've been with Verizon for quite some time and don't really want to consider changing carriers. Other than troublesome phones, you guys have been great. Help resolving this matter would be truly appreciated.

I am having issues recieving text messages on my Thunderbolt as well.  I have went to a Verizon store and spoke with a representative who after discussion and contacting the company's customer service sent me a replacement phone.  I will randomly not receive text messages.  Some I do get and others I don't, I am also not receiving phone calls at random as well.  It will ring on the other person's end and they will receive my voicemail but won't ring on my end nor will it show that I have a missed call.  This is becoming increasingly frustrating and becoming a pain to try and do day to day business.  I had someone, fellow Verizon customer, try for 2 weeks to send me a texts and not once did it ever come through on my end.  I would really like some answers as to what is causing this and what can be done to fix this.  The frustration is getting to the point that I am thinking of cancelling my contract, which I don't want to do.

I have this issue with my thunderbolt as well. I randomly stop receiving texts and I feel like it happens when my phone has been on too long, but it's happening again right now and I tried resetting my phone and it didn't help. I just pulled the battery and am hoping that will help, but it's starting to get quite annoying to have to text myself periodically to make sure my texts are still coming through.

I've had this same problem. If I am sent a long text (broken up into 2,3,4 parts) I will only get the first section of text, or first and last. Usually out of order if I'm lucky enough to get all of the parts. I've tried restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling the program, using the original text app...it's very frustrating. It seems so many people have this problem. It doesn't matter what provider the other person is using (even Verizon-to-Verizon doesn't come through on multiples). It looks like a solution to this problem would be appreciated by many!

Just yesterday my HTC Thunderbolt stopped receiving text messages.  It receives them fine today, but I sent out 7 messages yesterday and received no reply.  I spoke with a friend earlier today, who had sent me a reply yesterday to my text, which let me know something wasn't working.  The phone has done this in the past (but rarely- the worst kind of issue) and I'm on my second device. The first was replaced for a number of other issues.  I use the native text message app, I have plenty of free space on my phone and on my SD card, everything is up to date, I almost never install or use apps, and, having dealt with this before (along with 10's of other problems- some that still persist) I'm convinced the Thunderbolt is a flawed device.  Or Verizon's network will never properly work with it. I spent 2 hours on the phone today with reps, and it's possible I will receive a replacement, but I wanted to let other know about my experience.  I spend way too much money just to be with Verizon that the fact that I can't fully depend upon my phone is unacceptable.  Almost two years of issue after issue with the phone.  And I paid a premium for the HTC Thunderbolt over the iPhone.  Worst move ever.  I'm done with the Andriod OS and HTC.

I've been having this issue for the past couple of months. I use Handcent for messaging. Just this morning my sister emails me and asks why I'm not responding to her text messages. She sent me about 15 messages. Obviously, I didn't get them. I rebooted my phone and sent her a message. I did her response back. I've gone into vzw three times now and have not gotten any resolution. I use Handcent because I don't like the stock sms. My upgrade is due in December so I don't want to hassle with a refurb now. Any solutions?

BTW - where do the text messages go if the phone isn't receiving them?

There are people all over the web with intermittent issues not receiving texts on their Thunderbolt on Verizon.

My advice would be to just get used to it or switch carriers.  After all the time I spent on the phone with Verizon trying to explain (politely) all the lapses in service I've had with the Thunderbolt(s) on Verizon, I was promised a replacement Droid Razr to use for a month until I'm able to upgrade.  I told the Verizon supervisor that I'd take anything, as long as it wasn't a Thunderbolt.  I was literally "promised" that the Razr would be reliable and that I could feel safe conducting business on it.  So what do I get in the mail 2 days later (after paying for expedited shipping)?  A used Thunderbolt to replace my used Thunderbolt.  I've tried contacting them but haven't heard back.   Verizon's customer service used to be the best, now I feel like I'm dealing with T-Mobile or some cut rate provider.

Those "cut-rate" providers are seriously catching up to VZ bigtime, TAPdsg... my son has 5 smartphones on T-mobile and has never had that first problem. Their customer service has been wonderful for him and his wife and 3 teens. You might want to reconsider them.  On the other hand, Sprint is really sprinting to that finish line too - hearing lots of good things about their plans, service, equipment, etc. these days. And they still have UNLIMITED plans too!  VZ charges a LOT for such bad service and equipment, don't you think?  Try one of the others, you have nothing more to lose.

Hi there Kr8ivemind!

Text messaging is a quick and easy way to keep in contact with others and I don't want you to miss a beat! I will be delighted to provide some suggestions.

First, is this the only person you're having difficulties with? If so please try deleting her contact and readding it in manually, just in case the actual contact has a glitch.

Smartphones are very similar to computers in that on occasion they need some spring cleaning! I would delete any old messages and emails. Try to keep your threads under 200 if possible.

Are you experiencing this difficulty with anyone else?

Please advise so we can fix this!

Thanks,
