Hey there bigbund,
I am glad to hear that you were able to complete the software update, although I am concerned to hear that it is giving you some troubles. Software updates should keep your phone up to date and running smoothly and I want to make sure yours remains fully functional.
Are you using the stock text messaging application? or a Third Party? If you are using a third party, please uninstall it and try using the stock text messaging application.
As for the phone responding slowly, please try the following steps below:
1. Clear cache from applications - This can be done under settings>Apps >Downloaded Tab. Customer can sort by size and clear the cache for the applications.
2. Update applications from Play Store - This can be done under Play store application.
3. Move applications to the SD card - Some applications can be moved to SD card. To do this, customer should go to Settings > Apps > SD card tab > Move to SD card.
4. Uninstall applications from the device - To uninstall unwanted applications, customer should go to Settings > Apps > Downloaded Tab. Now select the application and click Uninstall.
5. Clear out text messages.
Let me know if this speeds things up and if you start to recieve text messages.

The Verizon Wireless system is broken. I reported it again today, using the menu provided, but I doubt I will hear back from you on my phone. I haven’t checked my bill, but I hope I am not being charged for messages people are sending me that I am not receiving.
I am also using Messages for Android – the front cover says version 2.0.0000.567366, though on the next page it says : version 3.5.2220183033.463976 It came with the phone
I will try what you said and get back to you.
