Verizon Software Update

I did a software update on my HTC Thunderbolt today.  I am now at Thunderbolt_2.11.605.9

Later on, I got a message on my screen that there was a Verizon Software Update available.  I skipped over it because I was doing something else.  I've tried to do another software update from the settings screen and also tried to update all my apps from the android market.  On both occasions, I have received a message that no updates are available.

Am I missing something?

There is a small typo in your post.

The latest version of the software is 2.11.605.9 for the Thunderbolt.

Yeah, when I made it to the TB section, I saw the news. What is new with this one?

Nevermind, the pdf finally opened without errors

Good morning frr185,

May I ask are you still having issues with receiving the software update on your HTC Thunderbolt? If so then please share what software version, baseband version, and kernel version that you are running on your device. I can check to see if you have the most up to date info. If there is a newer version then what you have then I can manually request the software version to be re-delivered if you have missed it. I look forward to your response.

Thank you...

Doesn't the update continue to be pushed out to devices for a specific period of time? I am not sure but I know that I've not received any update. Am I the only Bolt user who has not? Interested in hearing from others.

In the middle of my day working with my email I got a software push to move to 2.11.605.9  For the next 25 minutes I had an non-working phone and a big green lantern type logo on my phone.  Eventually, the phone rebooted and then launched a second update of some kind.

After 25 min I had the phone back though not as a result of any intervention from me.

I took the phone to a local Verizon store which unhelpfully noted that, yup, you had a software maintenanc update.

Microsoft has a much better system. They notify you that updates are ready so that you can schedule the interruption.  They also nag you if you ignore the updates.

Verizon's system is to arbitrarily interrupt you whenever their computer gets around to pushing the update to you phone.

Microsoft explains on the website what the updates are for and what they do.

Verizon tells you nothing.

Can there be a more clueless way of annoying your customers while trying to maintain their phones?

The change log for 2.11.605.9 has been on Verizon's website for over a week.

You can defer the installation of the update. It also warns you that the installation process prevents you from making calls and accessing your phone.

I regret to report that the update provided no warning. It started immediately after I started the phone.

Also, I don't check Verizon's website for updates.

I prefer the Microsoft model where the vendor notifies the customer the update is available allowing it to be scheduled for a convenient time.

If Verizon uses this model, then it is failing on execution since that was not my experience.

Mine showed up and I had three options. OK, Cancel, Defer.

Every update I have ever had, (with my Dinc, and TB) came that way.
