WHY COMPLAIN ABOUT SMALL ISSUES WITH HTC THUNDERBOLT? DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY!

I been seeing a lot of people complaining about the Thunderbolt about minor issues. What exactly do you expect the phone to do? I advise people to read on the device before they get it! I had the HTC EVO when it came out and I seen a lot of people complaining about it. I guess the world evolves around your needs huh? OK Who cares about how much internal  memory it has they give u a 32 GB SD card most phones barely come with 16GB. Ok so battery dies, its's searching for 4G if you do not have it in your state yet disable the 4G. Download you some task killers or something these are not phones people they are computers you talk on! Yeah sure enough its minor things I don't like about the phone but I'll deal with it. It's not affecting the performance of the phone ,the speed is spectacular  it does a lot more than the iPhone and IM very pleased with my phone. Now when it starts to not work for me EX: Lets say the phone shuts off in the middle of a conversation, or the screen starts to jump all over the place, or it wont text or recieve call then there is room to be upset but still no room for complaining I see people in America has everything handed to them.. Complaining about senseless things. There is people in other countries that has  nothing compared to us and they don't complain they deal with it. That's the same thing we should do!

Well, I appreciate someone coming on here and loving their phone because I really want to love this phone.  For me, when this phone does something I don't expect, I start to search for reasons why and often times I come to this forum to ask other users for help.  I think that is part of the purpose of the forum - for people to help each other.  That's why it seems like everybody on here is a complainer.  Personally I think that if they were real haters of the phone,, they'd just dump it and move on.  I think most of the people on here lust for amazing technology and we are all just fact finding. 

 

Yes, IMO its a computer that you can talk on.  That being said, when simple tasks that work seamlessly on a computer don't quite work on this thing, I want to know why and whether I am doing something wrong.  So I come here to find out.  There isn't a lot of documentation out there on this machine.  There is no possible way I could have done research to discover the functionality that is different/(lacking IMO) from this machine.  I had to get the phone, have some strange issues and test them out myself.  Nobody else that I ever talked to knew about it. 

 

This is a fantastic forum and imagine what we could have done 10 years ago with this kind of information base.

I believe I did my due diligence in research ( 4 Forums ( on of which had a thunderbolt in a consumers hands and he posted about/ answered questions about that); Reviews of CES attendee access to the device; Verizon's own useless Facebook page. I even followed people reported to be "Verizon insiders" placating the people waiting for release.  All of this and no one mentioned my Tbolt would locate me in a city four states west of where I actually am (Fix (temporary it came right back to wrong location an a subsequent power cycle); Video but no or muffled sound; this threads concern ( you do know the installed SD card is not the recommended speed class for HD video and some apps won't allow moving to this space Yet It can store apps the end user has no way to remove ( Oh wait! I did get an email from HTC saying this was not possible "at this time" alluding that it will be an option later. Oh which I could not get an answer to on followup).

Consumers having clairvoyance or parsing out every nuance of information should not be a prerequisite. And forums are one of the places people search for issues so if no one complains no one will know.

I'm on my third vzw Android and I'd say I did my research via forums and pre-release information. Considering that htc has made many devices all very similar and all with great reliable capabilities when we consumers finally get one in our hand and compare what the latest and greatest has to offer then are disappointed we tend to voice it. If Ralph Nader didn't open his mouth in the 60-70s about the problems consumers were facing we may have never seen a change in vehicle safety or manufacturer accountability in automobile manufactures. So don't take these expressed issues as complaining take it as feedback for the manufacturer and consumers. Htc will admit to some of the problems we are facing and assure us that fixes are on the way but sometimes they don't and the only way for the masses to make an educated purchase on a devices pros and cons is if enough people put that information out there. 

 

NailaBarbie, To answer some of your key notes. The internal memory is an important figure to a lot of Android users. This is due to the fact that some apps can not be moved to that 16-32GB SD card and if you have enough of those apps that can't be moved then your SOL. Note the t-bolt is the top of the line device we are not talking about a Citrus or an Ally so our expectations are high. I'm a little surprised you mention a task killer because if you did your research almost any Android manufacture or forum member will tell you task killers on 2.2 or higher are completely unneeded and could cause more problems or battery draw. 

In America we have these technologies and we continue to advance above those without. Its a life style choice and anyone can have these things and complain about them if they choose. Complaining isn't senseless, In fact in my line of work ever job I get starts with a complaint. I have customers complain about everything from my car won't start to my Bluetooth drops calls and its my job to fix it. Just like how we complain about these little to big issues with our devices and its vzw's / htc's job to fix them. 

 

 Thanks for your post. I feel the same way about those that post some of their complaints on facebook because they just get poor information back and its not a good platform to get answers from Verizon or htc. The best way to resolve complaints is here on verizons forums or tech support and directly with htc's tech support

{please keep your posts courteous} you obviously don't understand the nature of technical forums, nor the fact that it is impossible to completely research any product before you buy it.  There are always issues that arise and expectations that are not met.

 

When someone spends hundreds of dollars on a device, they can have certain reasonable expectations of how that device will function.  They also have reasonable expectations that the specifications advertised are what they will receive.  This isn't a 50 cent toy you can get out of a gumball machine.  It is an expensive piece of technology that should work up to specifications.

 

Further, most people come to technical forums such as this to seek help.  Those that are happy with their phones don't want to bother, but some who are having issues are going to come to these forums to discuss them.  That is why you see so much "negativity" and "complaints" here as that is simply the nature of the forums. 

 

I am the IT manager for a library system here in Texas.  Guess what?  Most of the calls and emails I get are complaints or calls for hlep of some kind.  It is the nature of technology to have issues and go out.  I don't go telling the users they don't have a right to ask for help or even complain if something doesn't work.

 

I will grant you that some of the complaints are hyperbolic.  Someone will have a minor problem with a phone (or even a major one) and rant about how they hate VZW or the phone manufacturer.  They will never buy another such-and-such phone again. Yes it is overblown, but that is just what happens.  You learn to take it with a grain of salt, which is what I suggest you do.

Sometimes it's the tone on how it was asked more than the problem itself.  Most of the time I have seen where someone says "{word filter avoidance}
, and that"  Yada yada company does it better than yada yada...  No real questions asked, and nothing but a huge rant.  Then when someone tries and help at times they get blown off, and then those people start getting defensive for a while.

 

At times some of these people who have problems beat around the bush when you ask a simple question or say "It can't be that" even though they didn't try it just to rule it out.

      First of all, aren't the forums for people needing help with their phones?  Perhaps that's why the majority of posts are about people needing help with their phones.  In the two short days that I've had my Thunderbolt I've had some issues that I consider more than minor. Of course some of it is just my limited noob abilities, I was expecting some growing pains.  I'm having problems with things that I feel should be built into the phone or OS by default. For instance, I can not download an App. Tell me how I could have foreseen that problem and researched it before my purchase?  Another issue related to that is not being able to activate or setup Apps built into the phone. People like me come to the forums for help on issues that seem extremely basic to experienced users. You obviously know your way around these phones , but I don't think it's realistic to think people can research issues before they run into those issues.

widssss...you'll mostly find helpful users here. most of us want to help. i think the original post here was as a result of a particular day when nearly every thread on the first page of this forum was nothing but complaining and griping because the tbolt wasn't perfect. you are correct though, this is where you should be able to come and ask for help (most of the time with more success than asking verizon....lol) without being ridiculed.
