How many owners are waiting on this accessory?  The HTC ThunderBolt Desktop Charger has battery charging capabilities.

(Part#: HTC6400DTC)

It's been "Out of stock" since day 1, Verizon knows there are issues with the battery life, how about providing us a way to charge the device with the extended battery installed and a spare at the same time:smileyindifferent:....Swapping batteries in and out is a pain and potentially damaging to the back covers.:smileymad:

it's "supposed" to be available toward the end of this month? but who knows? HTC lacks in the accessory department!!!! i'm not sure if they ever made a true one for the incredible (there were some generic/universals that sort of worked)....all i know is that after months of waiting for one, i gave up.

Do they? Most people have gotten use to their phone and can go 12 hours with about 4 hours of awake time..

What are you doing with your phone throughout the day that you need to change battery? Have you thought of the extended battery?

How is a desk charget going to help? Why can't you use a usb charger?

Also download juice defender and set it to extreme, you will never have another battery issue again

Who are these "most people" ? And how are they using their device? ( "Awake" time and "actual usage" could vary greatly among those "most people" ). I see a lot of people jumping thru a lot of hoops to tweek away the core features touted on this phone to gain somewhat acceptable battery life. As far as I know Juice Defender is still beta (thanks but I'll wait on a finished, stable, relatively bugless release)  I get different battery discharge rate on different days with absolutely nothing to point my finger at as a definitive cause. I've had the extended battery since day 1 (I don't mind the extra size and it actually fits my hands better:smileyhappy:) Most of the time I can make it thru my day with battery to spare but there have been days where my phone has warned me to charge immediately <15%)/ I have no social networks syncing, weather on 1 hour update( Too much fast changing this time of year ), email on 2 hour and I'm smack dab in the middle of solid red 4G coverage. My take on 4G is if it requires turning on/off  to accommodate undersizing of the battery I've mitigated that by using the extended version.

The only charger capable of charging a Thunderbolt with the extended battery installed while also charging another battery (standard or extended) is HTC's. I don't want to add another charging device when 1 device will do. (I do also have a car charger)

I have had nothing by issues with the battery on my tbolt.  Never lasts.  They are putting in 4G in our area now and there are days I get 2hrs of battery life before I get a warning that it's going to die.  Honestly don't see that great of a difference between the 3G and 4G.  I would be happy if I could get a full 10-12hrs of batter life with some useage.  I'm not on the phone talking or texting all day, no reason for it to die like it does.  My next phone will be an iPhone....I haven't heard of any issues in our area using them.  Good Luck with the battery cradle...if they ever come in stock

There is a generic desktop charger which also charges a spare (regular or extended life) battery available from techiewarehouse for $35. But I'm waitingbto see if the HTC 'multimedia' desktop charger has HDMI capabilities, which could require Gingerbread to work and that might explain the delay. In the end I probably wouldn't buy one for $60 'though.

Is that generic charger capable of charging with the extended battery installed? while also charging another extended battery?

I had read somewhere that the generic desktop cradle will not charge the Thunderbolt with extended battery "installed", however it will charge the extended battery once it is removed from the phone.

Later this month, there will be portrait recharging cradle from Mobi Products that charges a spare battery.  Since it's portrait, it is not good for watching movies but should allow the phone with extended battery installed to recharge:

When I was in a Verizon store the other day the rep showed me some up coming accessories and a charging pad is also supposed to be coming. It requires a replacement back that allows for inductive charging but it looks normal unlike the ones that are out now that require a plug being in your USB all the time.

I am one of them that couldn't wait for Verizon's desktop charger, and bought the one from techiewarehouse (which I've seen this model on a few websites, so don't blame techiewarehouse)...but this unit is very difficult to snap the phone onto. As simple as a design as it is, it doesn't work very well in getting the phone on the cradle.

If you haven't seen it, HTCPedia has one at this location:

The #3: Deluxe Desktop Charging Dock & Sync w. Spare Battery Slot for HTC Thunderbolt looks really nice, and is less than Verizon's unit. I called them, and they are supposed to be getting them on 5/31 (according to the manufacturer).

Just an FYI for you guys and glas...

Do you keep your TB naked, or do you not mind taking off the case every time you want to put it in a dock?

From the link above:

"Please note: Thunderbolt dock will NOT work with HTC Thunderbolt Extended Battery or if the phone is in any HTC Thunderbolt case. You will have to take off the case in order to dock the phone into the Thunderbolt docking station."

I have a cover for the TB, and when I leave the house I put it on. But when I come home, and/or dock it, it is naked, and does not have an extended battery.

Don't know--you'd have to check with techiewarehouse.

I have the SEIDIO desktop charger for the THUNDERBOLT and it works great.  I also have SEIDIO's extended battery which gives incredible use time and is far better than the HTC extended battery I replaced.
