Hmm..  Yahoo just came out with their own email android app.  I loaded it and now it's gettting the yahoo mail just fine.   I liked having all my email accounts together but this is ok for now ..... at least I can get it.

I'm having the same problem.  All of a sudden (today) none of my incoming email will download (yahoo, Outlook, etc..)  I can send email but nothing will download.

Tested further...  it's only Yahoo mail that doesn't work.   Looks like other Android phones are having the same problem.

There have been similar reports by users in the Droid X section of this community. Sounds like Yahoo has been making some server changes on their end which affects the end users.

I think that the Yahoo application has been available for sometime. They may have updated it recently.

There are instructions on Yahoo's website:  http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail/android

Click on the imap tab at the bottom.  It worked for me.  Good luck.

I had this issue, starting today. I went to the yahoo mail site, checked the mobile settings and they were not any different than the ones that were set up when this phone was set up. After reading these posts, I decided to try the official yahoo mail application and it seems to be working fine now, but I actually preferred what came on my thunderbolt. I guess Yahoo just wants you to use their official app.

While the app is nice, it doesn't give you enough settings and it drains the battery.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

I understand the importance of getting your email working on your phone. If any of you are still having this issue, I would suggest deleting the Yahoo account from the phone and re-adding it using Email instead of Yahoo from Accounts. Manually enter the email server information found here

I downloaded yahoo's own android app and absolutely HATE it. My default mail application is now working again, but I can't find the darned program listed to remove yahoo's app from my phone. Anyone else having this issue?

You can uninstall the Yahoo application from the Market app.

Or you can go to settings > applications > manage applications > downloaded. Scroll down to the yahoo application. Select it and press the uninstall button.

Thanks! I wasn't able to find the app listed in downloaded applications for some reason. It worked fine to get rid of it through marketplace. That was something I hadn't thought to do yet. :smileyhappy:

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. The Yahoo Mail app is a great alternative. Another thing I would suggest is deleting the email account and re-adding it using Email instead of Yahoo. You can also manually enter Yahoo's email server information.

incoming server: imap.mail.yahoo.com

port: 143

outgoing server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com

port: 587

This works!!  Thanks so much.  Have been without mail for 2 days now unless I go through the browser which is a pain.  Will this fix work on my android based tablet also??  Having the same issue on it now too!!
