300 mb isn't much data ...
turn off app auto sync, turn off background data (if you can on the Rhyme), turn off data if not using it

Meach, the HTC Rhyme is a great device for a great value and I hope you enjoy it! As Tikibar stated, turning off your background data and auto sync will help save some of your data use. Did you setup email or download any applications? When setting up the phone, you are required to connect to internet for some of the setup. It is recommended to use WiFi when available, especially for downloading applications and updates, since you have a smaller data amount of data.
