general TB questions

Is it possible for me to update the Tb from froyo to gingerbread? Or must I do something else? Also, if I live in a 3g area but not a 4g area, can i still use the TB?  Are the rates for 4g the same as 3g? Can I buy the TB from a verizon wireless store? what are some things that i might need to buy along with the phone itself? One last question: will the verizon wireless store be able to see my account info so that they can give me the discounts from NE2? If anyone can answer just a few of these questions, that would be great! thanks

1) Not until it's officially released by VzW. No eta on that, by the way. Fortunately, Froyo is good.

2) TB works fine on 3g.

3) $29.99 unlimited email and web is your only option, 3g or 4g.

4) *IF* they have any left in stock!

5) Usual accessories, cases, car chargers, stuff like that. Car charger may depend on your prior phone though: if your previous phone used microusb, you don't need a new car charger.

6) VzW CORPORATE stores can see your account and will definitely honor your NE2 if you have one. Authorized retailers... it's a crapshoot, depends on the retailer.

thanks! I got my TB yesterday but now i have some problems with the battery. I charged the battery for a bout 4 hours and it said full so i unplugged it. Then when i went to bed, i left the phone on with the display off. When i woke up, i checked my phone's battery charge........i couldn't because it was completely drained. i heard that it might be something to do with the battery not being calibrated well but i really don't know. any advice? I read on this forum somewhere that some people with the TB can get up to 24 hours on a single charge!?!?

I'd give it at least a week before you worry too much.  Do the calibration, sure, but also several full discharge/recharge cycles and you'll see it improve.  I've had mine now for two weeks and I think I get double the life I got when I first picked up the phone.  I was really worried those first couple days!

Also, turn off as much background syncing as you can stand.  Nothing syncs on mine except google stuff and my battery life is pretty good.

what exactly is discharging/recharging, is that just depleting the battery completely and then recharging? I don't know how to turn off background syncing. How many hours do you get? I was reading PJNC's posts on another person's question and PJ got 10.5 hours out of it and it was still at 83%? or did PJNC mean 10.5 hours total?

here's the link to PJNC's response:
